Eco-friendly Corrosion Inhibitors for N80 Steel in Hydrochloric Acid
Abstract: An important method of protecting metallic materials against deterioration due to acid corrosion is by the use of corrosion inhibitors. In the present investigation, corrosion inhibition study of two compounds,1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-ethylimidazoline(Inh I) and 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-decylimidazoline (Inh II) have been performed for oil-well tubular steel (N80) in 15% HCl using weight loss, electrochemical polarization, AC impedance and SEM. The inhibition efficiencies of the inhibitors follow the sequence, Inh II > Inh I. The …

Productivity of Hydraulically Fractured Calcite Rich Shale Reservoirs Enhanced by Acid
Abstract: The current low oil prices have highlighted the need for enhancement to current production from shale formations. Prolonging the production life and increasing productivity of the fracture network in the shale plays can be a way to improve the economics. Many shale wells, drilled and completed based on current completion strategies, show sharp decline after initial flash production. One of the reasons behind this can be attributed to closure of …

Mud Acid Effect on Fines Migration Problem Using a Newly Developed Al/Zr-Based Clay Stabilizer (A): Mitigation Can Happen
Abstract: Sandstone reservoirs exhibit severe fines migration problems subsequent to conventional mud acid (HCl: HF) treatments. The acid treatment proved to be effective for a relatively short period of time, with a sudden production decline owing to either that mud acid spent rapidly in close proximity to the wellbore, causing clays to migrate into the acidized area and re-plug the formation; or that the mud acid system actually weakens the structure …

Effect of pH on Shear Strength Behavior of Granular Soil
Abstract: In this research, the performances of pH value on shear strength behavior of granular soil have been studied. The shear strength of soil is an important term in most of the foundation engineering problems such as the bearing capacity of shallow foundation, slope stability of dam/embankment and lateral earth pressure on retaining walls. A series of direct shear tests were conducted on two types of dry granular soils (taken from …

Synthesis, Production, and Mass Balance Analysis of Ten High-Volume Herbicides
Abstract: Herbicides play a crucial role in modern agriculture, enabling effective weed management and safeguarding crop yields amid rising global food demands and growing weed resistance, which can reduce productivity by up to 40%. This study provides a detailed examination of synthesis pathways, production methodologies, and mass balance dynamics for ten high-volume herbicides: Aclonifen, Ametryn, Amidosulfuron, Aminocyclopyrachlor, Aminopyralid, Atrazine, Azimsulfuron, Beflubutamid, Bensulfuron Methyl, and Bentazone, used to control broadleaf weeds, grasses, …

Comparative Adsorption Studies on Raw Rice Husk, Acid Leached Rice Husk and Base Leached Rice Husk by Using Methylene Blue as Dye
Abstract: Current methods for removing dyes from wastewaters are costly and cannot effectively be used to treat wide range of such wastewaters. This work describes the use of raw rice husk (RRH), acid-leached rice husk (ALRH) and base-leached rice husk (BLRH) as adsorbents for decolorization. Characterization of raw rice was done by powder X-ray diffraction (P-XRD) analysis, surface area analysis and scanning electron microscopy. Raw rice husk was collected directly from …

Risk Assessment of Batch Sulfonation Process using Fault Tree and Bowtie
Abstract: The current study looks into the batch reactor's sulfonation reaction's safety features. Acetanilide, thionyl chloride, and chlorosulphonic acid are used in the sulfonation reaction under consideration to generate acetyl sulphonyl chloride as well as by-products such HCl and SOx. Steam starts the process, which is exothermic in nature. Water is then chilled to maintain a temperature of 50°C and a pressure of one atmosphere. The Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) analysis …
