Ileal Ureteral Substitution for Long Ureteric Structure/Segment Loss by Yang-Monti Technique. A Single Centre Experience
Abstract: A new technique for replacing the ureter based on the Yang-Monti principle is introduced to overcome the drawbacks of the classic ileal ureter. Between January 2007 and January 2014, ureteral replacement by ileum was indicated in nine patients, long or multiple strictures due to tuberculosis (6), retroperitoneal tumor (1) and iatriagenic ureteric injury during ureteroscopic (2). Exclusion criteria included patients with inflammatory bowel syndrome or irradiated bowel or a non-functioning …

Lithium Induces Lower Specific Activity and Expression of Acetylcholinesterase in Old Aged Rats Brain and Liver for the Regulation of Acetyl Choline Cellular Signaling
Abstract: Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) acts on acetylcholine (ACh) to terminate its actions on the synaptic cleft by cleaving Ach to choline and acetate. This directly correlates with memory dysfunction and loss of cognitive functions in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients which was a continuous decline of the cholinergic neurotransmission in cortical and other regions of human brain. Specific activity and expression for AChEwere determined in LiCl2 treated young and old male wistar rat's …

A Clinical Correlation Made Between Opioid-induced Hyperalgesia and Hyperkatifeia with Brain Alterations Induced by Long-term Prescription Opioid Use
Abstract: The goal of this article is to establish a correlation between the clinical manifestations of opioid-induced hyperalgesia and hyperkatifeia with the morphological and functional connectivity changes seen in the human brain that can be caused by long-term prescription opioid use. This will be accomplished by reviewing the imaging results found in a small but unique study that demonstrated morphological and functional connectivity changes in long-term prescription opioid users. The primary …

Malignancies during Pregnancy – A Case Series and a Brief Review of Literature
Abstract: Although occurrence of malignancy in pregnancy is rare, it accounts for a third of all maternal deaths during gestation. The advances in reproductive medicine and deliberate postponement of pregnancy till a later age may show a rise in the incidence of malignancies in pregnancy in future. Lack of standard guidelines is a major hurdle in the management of cancer in pregnancy. Our aim was to do a retrospective analysis of …

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura: A Narrative Review of Diagnosis and Treatment by drugs and novel agents.
Abstract: Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is an infrequent but fatal disease, is primarily caused by autoantibodies against the von Willebrand factor (VWF) cleaving metalloprotease ADAMTS13. Overall, severe deficiency of plasma ADAMTS13 action (< 10 IU dL-1) with or without noticeable inhibitory autoantibodies counter to ADAMTS13 supports the diagnosis of TTP. The International Working Group for TTP released a consensus statement on the standardization of terminology in these disorders which we use …

Secondary Infertility due to Retention of Foetal Bones: A Rare Occurrence: A Case Report
Abstract: In this paper we present a case of unwanted contraception through prolonged retention of foetal bone—a rare cause of secondary infertility. We describe a case of intrauterine retention of foetal bone diagnosed three years after the termination of a pregnancy. A hysteroscopy was performed and irregular structures were removed. These fragments were foetal bones, which probably functioned as an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD). After removal of the foetal bone fragments, …

Effects of Smoking on Respiratory System
Abstract: Smoking is whispered to exacerbate respiratory diseases by harming respiratory defense mechanisms. Specifically, smoking damages mucociliary function, which impairs clearance of inhaled substances even in smokers who have no respiratory symptoms promotes bacterial adherence to airway epithelial cells. The devastating health impact of cigarette smoking is well known, Cigarette and its components produce structural changes in the respiratory tract include peri-bronchiolar inflammation and fibrosis, augmented mucosal permeability, destruction of the …

Sudden Natural Deaths in and around Guwahati: An Autopsy Based Study
Abstract: Death occurring within 24 h of the onset of terminal symptoms is defined as sudden death. It is frequently associated with allegations of foul play. A retrospective study of sudden natural deaths in an around Guwahati from 2016 to 2018 was conducted from the medico-legal autopsy cases done at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital Guwahati. A total of 9835 autopsy cases were done during those 3 years. Out of a …

Potential Role of Unani Herbs in Management of Hypertensive Cardiomyopathy: A Review
Abstract: AbstractHypertensive cardiomyopathy (HTN-CM) is a structural heart disease associated with concentric left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) along with systolic or diastolic dysfunction in primary hypertensive patients in the absence of other cardiac diseases causing myocardial hypertrophy or cardiac dysfunction. The structural and functional myocardial abnormalities due to persistent hypertension result in myocardial ischemia, fibrosis, and hypertrophy. HTN-CM is primarily a disease of impaired ventricular relaxation rather than impaired contractility; thus patients …

Description of Amraz-E-Gosh (Ear Diseases) in Unani and Modern Perspective: A Review
Abstract: The human ear is tremendously complex and amazingly designed organ meant primarily for hearing and balancing the body. In Unani terminology, it is known as Uzuemudarikfaslat (distance receptor organ). In classical Unani literature, diseases of the ear are well described and are called as Amraze Gosh like Tarash (impaired hearing), Waqr and Samum (deafness), Wajauluzn (ear ache), Tanin-o-Dawi (tinnitus), Siqle Sama’at (reduced hearing), Hikkatuluzn (itching in ear) Sansanahat (ringing of …

Heteroatom modified carbon dots (N, P, K): synthesis, surface functionalization, and prospects for soil‑fertility enhancement
Abstract: Heteroatom‑functionalized carbon dots (H‑CDs) have emerged as a class of zero‑dimensional carbon nanomaterials offering tunable optical, electronic, and catalytic properties through controlled nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium doping. This review highlights the chemistry and chemical‑technology dimensions of N‑, P‑, and K‑doped carbon dots (N‑CDs, P‑CDs, K‑CDs), focusing on their synthesis strategies, surface functionalization, and structure–property relationships. Conventional routes such as microwave‑assisted pyrolysis, hydrothermal carbonization, and one‑pot solvothermal methods are discussed, with …

Reliability-Aware Mathematical Model for Radiation-Hardened Satellite Communication Systems
Abstract: Satellite communication systems operate in radiation environments in which total ionizing dose (TID), displacement damage, and single-event effects (SEE) can progressively degrade electronic, optoelectronic, and communication components and can ultimately reduce link availability and mission reliability. This paper develops a Reliability-Aware Radiation-Hardened Satellite Communication Model (R-RHSCM) that mathematically couples the orbital radiation environment, accumulated radiation dose, component degradation, communication-link performance, single-event failure probability, redundancy, thermal effects, and adaptive mitigation. The …
