An Analytical Method for the Analysis of Transformer Windings Having Non-Uniform Capacitance Distribution
Abstract: A direct procedure for the transient and frequency analysis of transformer windings with location-dependent inter-turn capacitance distribution is presented. This can help simulate windings with non-uniform insulation. The derived analytic solutions in the Laplace domain are based on expressing the non-uniformly-distributed series capacitance per unit length as the sum of a constant term and a variable part proportional to the square of the distance from the winding’s source terminal. The …

Challenges & Issues in Natural Gas Distribution Industry
Abstract: Natural Gas Distribution or City Gas Distribution (CGD) in India is at a nascent stage. Before the establishment of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the sector was unstructured and direction-less at times. With the formation of PNGRB, the safety practices of CGD business were looked into and guidelines were framed. However, the initial legal disputes within PNGRB retarded the growth. The first three bidding rounds in the sector …

Linear Programming based Model for Design of Looped Water Distribution Networks with Redundancy
Abstract: A new linear programming based two-phased methodology is suggested for design of looped water distribution networks with redundancy. The redundancy is provided against failure of pipes and a network is designed to sustain failure of any one of the link without affecting nodal supplies in a part or full. In the first phase, network is designed under normal pipe working conditions for assumed flow distribution using linear programming. The performance …

Extreme Value Analysis of Rainfall using L-Moments of Five Probability Distributions for Chandwa and Latehar Sites in Jharkhand
Abstract: Estimation of rainfall for a given return period is of utmost importance for planning, design and management of civil and hydraulic structures. This can be achieved by conducting Extreme Value Analysis (EVA) of rainfall that consists of fitting probability distributions (PDs) to the annual maximum series of rainfall. In this paper, a study on intercomparison of L-Moments (LMO) of five PDs viz., Extreme Value Type-1 (EV1), Extreme Value Type-2, Generalized …

Reduction in Stress Distribution in Horizontal Well Cementing
Abstract: Abstract: This paper addresses the stress distribution problem and effect on the cement behind the casing in the horizontal wells. The uneven stress distribution in the horizontal well causes crakes and breakage of the concrete which leads to various problems like instability of the bore hole in the affected region and secondly it paves path for flow of unwanted fluids in the cemented channels. Hence, to neglect this kind of …
