Smart Iron Box with Automatic Cloth Detection and Heat Adjustment
Abstract: Ironing continues to be a lengthy and sometimes monotonous activity in domestic chores; especially among those with busy schedules who need to ensure efficiency and minimize risks of harming delicate fabrics. This document discusses the design and development of an intelligent ironing machine that performs ironing tasks using embedded computing and multi-sensor fabric identification. Unlike traditional irons that depend entirely on the manually chosen temperatures and user discretion, the developed …

Properties of Biodegradable Films based on Pectin, Mango Kernel Flour and Unrefined Palm Oil
Abstract: This study allowed to develop biodegradable films based on pectin, incorporating mango kernel flour and unrefined palm oil, whose physical and mechanical properties were investigated. Results highlighted the feasibility of developing of these composite films. The film properties showed variability in color, physical, barrier and mechanical properties, depending to concentration of ingredients. Biodegradable films obtained are homogeneous, non-cracked, uniform, and color is mainly orange. Opacity of films increased with the …

Calf Mortality in the Tropics: Multidimensional Challenges and Implications for Sustainable Dairy Development
Abstract: Calf mortality remains a significant challenge in tropical dairy farming, posing threats to productivity and sustainability. This review explores the multifactorial factors contributing to calf mortality in the tropics, including environmental stress, infectious diseases, nutritional deficiencies, management practices, genetic factors, and social dynamics. Tropical climates, characterized by extreme temperature variations, humidity, and poor shelter, exacerbate stress and compromise calf health. Infectious diseases, such as bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, coupled …
