Risk Factors of Neonatal Deaths Among Asphyxiated Neonates in Ayder Referral Hospital, Mekelle, Ethiopia: A Case Control Study
Abstract: In the globe about 4 million babies die during neonatal period every year and 99% of these deaths occur in low-income and middle-income countries. Out of these, almost one-fourth of them lose their lives due to birth asphyxia. The main objective of this study was to assess risk factors of neonatal death among asphyxiated neonates in Ayder Referral Hospital, Mekelle City. Institution-based unmatched case-control study was conducted from December 1st …

Pregnant Women Basic Components of Focused Antenatal Care and Its Associated Factors in Public Health Institutions, West Shewa, Oromia, Ethiopia
Abstract: Background: Antenatal care is one of the most effective health interventions for preventing complication of pregnancy and childbirth. The components of basic focused antenatal care are assessment of condition of mother and pregnancy, care provision and health promotion. Poor maternal health not only affects women’s survival but has serious public implications for the survival of their children as well. However, there is no enough study that tells whether those pregnant …

Effect of Diarrhea at Admission on Time to Recovery in Treatment of Severe Acute Malnourished Children in Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Program in Tigray Region, Ethiopia
Abstract: The mortality rate in inpatient settings remained unacceptably higher, 20–30% for marasmus and 50–60% for Kwashiorkor. This is due to inappropriate case management and co-morbidities mainly diarrhea. Despite, there was no study conducted to show the effect of diarrhea at admission on the length of time to recovery in the treatment of severe acute malnutrition among children aged 6–59 months and then there is little understanding about this issue. The …

Thermal Care Practice for Newborns and its Associated Factors in Mekelle Hospital and Ayder Referral Hospital Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia, December 2016
Abstract: About 3,100 newborns die within 24 h of birth each day. Ninety percent of these babies could be saved if warmth is provided promptly besides breastfeeding. Seventy percent of these deaths could be prevented with simple low-cost interventions, coupled with educating mothers and health workers to facilitate widespread implementation of essential newborn care practices. Studies on thermal care practice in health facilities witnessed by mothers are missing. This study was …

Manganese Mercury Thiocyanate Doped Zirconium Silicate Crystal Structure for Photo-Electronic, Electro-Optic and Sensor Applications
Abstract: Manganese mercury thiocyanate is a well-known organometallic crystal prized for its nonlinear optical properties. The high second harmonic efficiency of nearly 18 times that of urea and the wide optical transmittance window (373–2250 nm) of MMTC indicate that this material is an excellent candidate for photonics device fabrication. The metal thiocyanates and their Lewis-base adducts are one of the interesting themes of structural chemistry. For MMTC is a very flexible …

Performance-Based Fire Safety Assessment and Optimization of a Mixed-Use High-Rise Building Using NBC 2016, Hydraulic Adequacy, and Evacuation Time Analysis
Abstract: This paper presents a performance-based fire safety assessment of a simulated 92 m mixed-use high-rise building containing parking, commercial, office, and residential occupancies. Rather than relying only on prescriptive compliance, the study evaluates whether the installed fire protection strategy can maintain tenable conditions and deliver adequate suppression performance during a credible design fire. Using the base data supplied for the Metro Central Tower case, the work determines fire load density, …

Experimental Analysis and Validation of Cellulose Fibre Insulation Structures Considering Thermal Properties
Abstract: Cellulose fibre insulation structures made from used newspaper can be installed in attics, filling gaps between doors and windows. Many researchers focused on loose-filled cellulose fibre insulation. This study investigates the thermal conductivity, R- Value and thermal transmittance of cellulose fibre insulation manufactured from recycled cellulose materials with densities ranging from 280 to 360 kg / m³ and specimen thicknesses of 10 – 30 mm. A total of 25 structures …
