Torsional Strengthening of RC Beam using Ferrocement Jacketing
Abstract: Due to the type of loading on the structure, it is generally known that there are four structural actions: axial force, shear, bending, and torsion. The reinforced concrete beams are said to be subjected to torsion, when the point of application of lateral loads does not coincides with shear center of the beam. These loads may be due to loading pattern or connection of beam. Torsional failure is typically seen …

Comparative analysis of with and without P-∆ effect on plan irregular RC structure with different positions of shear wall
Abstract: P-∆ effect is the second order analysis method which is cause due to wind or seismic effect. This secondary effect causes the geometric non-linearity in structure. For high rise structure the P-∆ effect plays the significant role on the building stability because in lots of cases it has been found that failure of tall building is a function of slenderness of building members and second order effect. In P-∆ analysis, …

Response Study of High Rise Building under Wind Load
Abstract: Wind is a phenomenon of great complexity because of the many flow situations arising from the interaction of wind with structures. Wind is of the most significant forces of nature that must be considered in design of buildings. The characteristics of wind-induced loads on buildings continuously vary in temporal and spatial dimensions. Adequate design of buildings depends on the success in predicting the actual effects of turbulent wind forces to …

Wind analysis of four legged transmission towers with different bracing systems for angle section & tube section
Abstract: Due to the increasing demand of electrical energy, a significant importance should be given to the analysis & design of transmission line towers. Since the transmission towers are the tall structures, they are mainly affected by wind forces. Therefore before the design & construction of these structures, they must be analysed for wind forces. This research paper presents a study on wind analysis of four legged towers with different bracing …

Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Exterior Beam Column Joint Subjected to Monotonic Loading
Abstract: A numerical analysis of exterior beam-column joint subjected to constant axial load on the column top and monotonic load applied at the beam tip is presented in this work. A strain-based nonlinear finite element program is developed in MATLAB R2009a. The nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete structural member is carried out considering it as a two-phase system. The concrete in nonlinear range is considered as orthotropic material having different stress-strain …

Liquefaction Behavior of Clean Sand for Various Sample Sizes Using Triaxial Tests
Abstract: A total of 54 isotropically consolidated un-drained triaxial compression tests on various sample sizes were conducted to study the effect of sample size on liquefaction behavior of clean sand. Specimens were prepared using moist placement and dry deposition methods with different initial relative densities and tested for different confining pressures. It was observed that as the sample size increases, deviator stress also increases. Peak value of deviator stress increased as …

Assessment of Deflection for Deck Slab Bridge
Abstract: The deflection of deck slab is found with respect to bending stress and normal stress and compared with its permissible value. Span of the deck slab plays an important role in deflection. As span increases more bending takes place hence we get more deflection against bending stress. Also normal stress increases due to increase in span since more load is involved. Width of deck slab is kept constant and span …
