Structural Optimization of FDM-Processed ASA Polymer Frames through Acetone Solvent Welding, Variable Infill Strategy, and Layer Orientation: Experimental Validation via Quadcopter Flight Testing
Abstract: Acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) is an amorphous terpolymer with superior UV resistance compared to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), as its acrylate rubber phase lacks photodegradation-prone carbon–carbon double bonds. This study proposes acetone solvent welding as a polymer joining method to produce monolithic structures from FDM-processed ASA components, addressing three processing challenges: achieving structural continuity through polymer chain interdiffusion at solvent-wetted interfaces, correcting thermal warping via post-print geometric correction during welding, …

Experimental Investigation on Mechanical Properties of Concrete Replacing of Steel Slag as Coarse Aggregate
Abstract: The basic objective of this study was to identify alternative source of good quality aggregate which is depleting very fast due to the fast pace of construction activities. This paper describes the optimum level of replacement of Energy Optimized Furnace (EOF) steel slag by weight of coarse aggregate for a mix proportion of M20 grade concrete to find out the optimum ratio of steel slag. Civil Engineers have been challenged …

Experimental Analysis of Aramid Fiber Reinforced with Tungsten Carbide
Abstract: This study investigates the mechanical performance of aramid fiber-reinforced epoxy composites enhanced with varying weight percentages of tungsten carbide (WC) powder as a secondary reinforcement. The composites were fabricated using both the hand lay-up and vacuum bagging techniques to ensure uniform dispersion of materials and quality surface finish. Tungsten carbide particles with an average size of 4 microns were incorporated into the aramid fiber matrix at incremental concentrations of 0%, …

A Review of Recent Advancements in the Field of Friction Stir Welding of Dissimilar Joints Made of Aluminium and Magnesium
Abstract: Friction stir welding (FSW) stands at the forefront of welding technology, offering a promising avenue for joining dissimilar metals like aluminum and magnesium. These metals, renowned for their exceptional properties such as ductility, thermal conductivity, low density, and impressive weight-to-strength ratios, find wide utility across numerous industrial sectors. However, traditional fusion welding methods often struggle to effectively join aluminum and magnesium due to their disparate physical and chemical characteristics. FSW …

The Study of Gravimetric Thermal Analysis and Some Physical Properties of a Binary Polymeric Mixture of Unsaturated Ester and Peach Seed Powder
Abstract: Strengthening polyester resin and increasing its hardening was studied by adding peach seed powder. We also studied how to change the thermal properties after strengthening the resin by adding different weight percentages of peach seed powder (5%, 10%, 15%). The thermal properties of polyesters were studied before and after cementing, which included thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and treatment at different temperatures (21, 51, 81, 121, 151ºC.) The effect of acidic functions …

Composite Behavior of Bagasse Ash Stabilized Expansive Soil with Sodium Benzophenone Under Curing Conditions
Abstract: The present investigation examines the development of a hybrid composite using Black Cotton (BC) soil, Bagasse Ash (BA), and Sodium Benzophenone (SBP) as performance-enhancing elements. Different ratios of BA, a silica-rich agro-industrial by-product, were added to improve pozzolanic reactivity and particle size distribution (0%, 6%, and 12%). SBP was added in the range of 0–0.6% as a compatibilizer in order to enhance interfacial adhesion, particle cohesivity and moisture-assisted deterioration resistance. …

A Survey Predicting the Influence of Age, Gender and Anthropometric Measures on Blood Pressure in Bengalee Subjects in West Bengal, India
Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) rates hypertension as one of the most important causes of premature death worldwide. It is estimated that by 2020, cardiovascular diseases will be the largest cause of mortality and morbidity in India. Recent studies identified waist circumference (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist hip ratio (WHR), and waist height ratio (WHtR) as the risk factors associated with hypertension. This study intended to verify the influence …

Composite Gel-Fibers and Solid-State-Processed Tapes Based on Disentangled Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene and Electrically Conductive Carbon Black: a Comparative Study
Abstract: In this study, oriented nanocomposite gel-spun fibers and solid-state-processed tapes were manufactured and analyzed. The fibers and tapes were produced using a specific type of nascent disentangled ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) reactor powder. As the filler, commercially available electrically conductive carbon black (CB) was used. The ultra-high filler content values up to 75 wt.% were achieved for the UHMWPE/CB gel-spun fibers, while the degree of filling was limited (up …
