Monitoring the Structural Health of RC Beam Lap Splices using Wave Propagation and PZT Sensors
Abstract: This paper describes the use of piezoelectric sensors in a wave propagation-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) method to identify lap splices in steel reinforcing bars. Straight and lapped steel bars with lap lengths of 10° and 20° were used for the experiments. Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) transducers were employed, one of which served as an actuator to produce stress waves and the other as a sensor to record the signals …

Study on the Method of Constructing a System of Linear Equations for Calculating Aerodynamic Derivatives
Abstract: The aerodynamic derivatives can be calculated from the unsteady hydrodynamic forces experienced by the harmonic-oscillating vehicle. Until now, unsteady flow field analysis in aerodynamic derivative calculations has been applied mainly to thin bodies based on potential theory MSC. Nastran is a typical application based on potential theory MSC. Natran can calculate the aerodynamic derivatives of the vehicle relatively well in the subsonic region, but in the supersonic region, the fuselage …

Binary GA for Sidelobe Reduction and Null Steering in 5G Array
Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive performance evaluation of a Binary Genetic Algorithm (BGA) for optimizing radiation characteristics of an active phased array antenna used in fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems. The primary objective is to achieve effective null steering while maintaining the desired main beam direction and simultaneously reducing the side lobe level (SLL). These improvements are essential for minimizing co-channel interference, enhancing spatial selectivity, and improving the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio …

A Simplified Indirect Control Scheme for Shunt-active Power Filters
Abstract: This paper presents a simplified indirect control scheme for shunt-active power filters for compensating harmonic currents and improving power factor. The control is based on the simple method for generation of the reference compensating current. The reference compensating current is obtained by subtracting load current from reference source current. PI controller is used to adjust the amplitude of the reference source current that regulates the DC capacitor voltage. Hysteresis band …

Application of Radial Basis Function Neural Network in Power Quality Events Classification
Abstract: Power Quality concerns have become more important as the Smart Grid has evolved. Computers, microprocessor-controlled electronic loads, and power electronic devices are all used in urban development. Disturbances in power quality are caused by these electronic devices. Variations in the amplitude and frequency of system voltages and currents from their nominal levels identify PQ difficulties. We offer a hybrid technique to accomplishing this goal in this paper. To classify PQ …

Investigations into the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Fe3C Compound: A Comprehensive Analysis
Abstract: Exploration of mechanical properties of Fe3C powder using Williamson-Hall analysis by using Mechanical alloying technique. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the lattice strain (LS) and nanocrystalline size (CS) in an Fe3C produced from powder using the Mechanical Alloying Method (MAM). By the repeated mechanical crushing, the LS created by MAM is expected to decrease while the CS is anticipated to reduce the particle size. To accomplish …

Vibration Analysis Of Pump Shaft Using Finite Element Analysis Software: A Review
Abstract: Rotating shaft and other components in pump system revolving at speed close to the natural frequency of the system are unsafe because at natural frequency the amplitude of vibration is highest and it generate the excessive stresses which can cause rotating components failure. The objective of the review paper is to study the vibration characteristics of pump shaft system of finite element method in software module. The knowledge about the …
