Recent Progress in Magnesium Hybrid Metal Matrix Composites: Processing, Properties, and Applications
Abstract: Magnesium hybrid composites have emerged as promising materials to meet the growing demands of advanced sectors such as biomedical, aerospace, defense, automotive, electronics, and marine industries. However, the inherent drawbacks of magnesium, specifically low wear resistance, have encouraged scientists to develop magnesium-based MMC with improved mechanical properties and thermal properties. To achieve this, various mixtures of reinforcement are employed. These include ceramics with high strength and wear resistance; solid lubricants …

Enhancement of Mechanical Properties in Eutectic Al-Si Alloy Matrix Composites Reinforced with Kyanite and Graphite via Stir Casting
Abstract: The purpose of this work is to enhance the mechanical performance of a eutectic Al–Si alloy by incorporating hard ceramic (kyanite) and soft solid lubricant (graphite) reinforcements using a liquid-state stir casting route. Metal matrix composites were fabricated with kyanite contents of 2, 4, and 6 wt.% and a constant 2.5 wt.% graphite. Their microstructures and mechanical properties were systematically evaluated. The microstructure was examined using optical microscopy and energy …

Design And Fabrication of Contactless Magnetic Gears
Abstract: Modern engineering prioritizes speed, efficiency, and reliability, spurring innovations like contactless magnetic gear systems that transmit torque through interacting magnetic fields from permanent magnets, eliminating physical contact to drastically cut friction, backlash, wear, lubrication needs, and heat—operating silently with minimal vibration and peak efficiencies up to 99% under ideal conditions, outperforming traditional gears in low-speed, high-torque direct-drive applications such as motors. The design centers on two rotors: an outer high-speed …

Comprehensive Study on the Mechanical And Tribological Response of Waste Tyre Rubber–Natural Fiber Hybrid Epoxy Composites
Abstract: Research into the mechanical and tribological characteristics of Prosopis juliflora-fiber reinforced epoxy-matrix composites with recycled tyre rubber particles is the focus of this investigation. Making use of old tire rubber and bio-reinforcing with fibers from the common invasive plant Prosopis juliflora are the goals of the two-reinforcement technique. The end goal is to produce long-lasting, cost-effective engineered composite materials with improved performance. A constant epoxy resin matrix was used to …
