Non-Microsurgical Reattachment for Ear Amputations
Abstract: Ear amputations seem rare but could cause serious deformities and psychological problems. Overall approach for ear amputations is microsurgical replantation. However, this approach is not applicable to every case and in every center. In these situations, there are non-microsurgical replantation methods. We applied non-microsurgical replantation with Boudet method to a 24 year old patient who had partially amputated ear by a human bite. Based on this, we wanted to study …

Sociodemographic Determinants of Tobacco Use among Patients Admitted in a Tertiary Care Hospital
Abstract: Tobacco use is the most important contributor to morbidity and premature death among modifiable lifestyle factors. More than five million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while more than 600 000 are the result of nonsmokers being exposed to second-hand smoke and the annual death toll could rise to more than eight million by 2030. A cross-sectional survey was conducted where males and females of 18–65 …

Correction Treatment of Genu Varum in Children by Means of Temporary Hemiepiphysiodesis Using Eight-LCP
Abstract: Objectives: Genu varum is often diagnosed in children. Although physiological deformities should be corrected, pathological deformities couldn’t be treated without surgical method. With appearance of many minially invasive operation methods, hemiepiphysiodesis using eight plates has yielded to the increasingly popular method. The aim of our survey is to analyse the effectiveness of the operation using eight-LCP. Method: Between April 2015 and April 2020, We have studied 55 patients with genu …

Antibacterial, Cytotoxicity Studies of Azukia mungo (L.) Masam and Correlation with in silico Docking Studies
Abstract: Introduction and Background: Azukia genus plants rich in proteinaceous anti-nutrients like tannins (especially condensed tannins) has been shown to have anti-bacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and antineoplastic activity against lung and liver cancer cells. Five types of procyanidins (condensed tannins) have already been isolated from Azukia mungo and structurally elucidated. But its activity against the Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has not yet been shown. Hence we focus our work …

A Study of Histomorphological Changes of Lungs in Hanging Cases in Medicolegal Autopsies
Abstract: Hanging is a form of death, produced by suspending the body with a ligature round the neck, the constricting force being the weight of the body (or a part of the body weight. Hanging has been recognized, since ancient times to be a common mode of committing suicide. Hanging is chosen as a method of suicide used by both the extremes of age i.e. young and old, both the extremes …

Ameliorating Effect of Vitamin C on Acid Orange 7 Induced Oxidative Stress in the Gill of the Fish, Anabas testudineus (Bloch, 1792)
Abstract: Acid orange 7, an azo dye, was exposed to Anabas testudineus at a sublethal concentration (0.27 g/l) for 24, 72 and 96 h in order to evaluate the antioxidant status in the gill tissue. In addition, vitamin C at 0.55 g/l was exposed for 7 days after the dye exposure. Acid orange 7 decreased the body weight of fish, whereas mucous deposition increased significantly as the first line of defensive …

Levels of Environmental Pollutants and Urinary 1-Hydroxypyrene among Foundry Workers
Abstract: Environmental and biological monitoring was conducted to measure the Total Suspended Particulate Matter (TSPM), SO2,NOx and 1-OHP among foundry workers. Among the various sampling locations melting (2466 μg/m3) and fettling (2951 μg/m3) recorded higher concentration of TSPM. The concentration of NOx and SO2 ranged between 288– 352 μg/m3 and 3.11-10.97μg/m3,respectively. Among the various heavy metals analysed, the concentration of zinc and nickel was the maximum. Although the environmental monitoring study …

Toxicity Evaluation of a Few PAHs on a Local Freshwater Fish—Rasbora daniconius
Abstract: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) have become ubiquitous pollutants of water resulting mainly from petroleum products. These are absorbed into the living systems and converted into secondary metabolites which show bioaccumulation in the living systems and have several deleterious effects on them. The present study attempts to evaluate toxicity of two such PAHs— Naphthalene and Anthracene—on the freshwater fish, Rasbora daniconius, using pure PAHs dissolved in dichloromethane. LC50 values were seen …
