Forecasting Climate-Driven Healthcare Demand in Agricultural Regions: A Multi-Modal AI Approach
Abstract: The rapidly increasing instability of world climatic regimes has made past meteorological thresholds irrelevant, especially in the agricultural areas where monetary stability and well-being of humans are closely intertwined with an environmental situation. The more the frequency of 1 in every 1000-year events, i.e., heatwaves and catastrophic flooding increase, the greater the rural healthcare systems are in crisis, i.e., unable to predict a surge in demand because of data scarcity, …

IoT-Enabled Self-Monitoring Polymer Composites for Solar Facade Systems with Cloud-Based Thermal Analytics
Abstract: The increasing demand for intelligent and energy-efficient building systems has hastened the production of smart solar facade systems. This paper presents an IoT-based self-monitoring polymer composite system, which includes thermal analytics running on the cloud to provide real-time assessments of the performance of the facade. The artificial composite panel has sensing capability built in which the material is able to measure both surface and internal thermal behavior simultaneously in dynamic …

Climate Change and Urban Heat Islands in India: A Review Across Nine Urban Agglomerations
Abstract: Since 1901, anthropogenic climate change has raised India's mean surface temperatures by about 0.9°C, compounding warming. Rapid urbanization creates persistent Urban Heat Islands (UHIs), making cities dangerously hotter than rural areas. A combination of these forces presents acute thermal hazards to hundreds of millions of urban dwellers. The paper discusses the emergence and intensification of UHI in nine large Indian cities (Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and …

Fluid Dynamics of a Stressed Freshwater Lens: Integrated Flow Modeling and Pathways for Material-Centric Interventions in Khadir Island, Gujarat
Abstract: This study applies principles of fluid dynamics and porous media mechanics to analyze the behavior and sustainability of the freshwater lens in Khadir Island, an arid sedimentary island in Gujarat, India. We develop an integrated fluid flow model that couples surface hydrology with aquifer dynamics to quantify recharge fluxes, extraction stresses, and hydraulic responses. Using 11-year hydro-meteorological data (2011–2021) and sectoral demand projections, we characterize the island’s water budget through …
