Insilico Structural Analysis and Homology Modeling of Crustin Protein from Fiddler Crab Species
Abstract: In terms of biomass and ecological or economic importance, the crustacea are the largest, most noticeable, and possibly, the most significance group of marine or aquatic arthropods. Because of their enormous commercial value and the necessity to prevent disease outbreaks in the shellfish aquaculture industry, decapods are the experimental animals of choice for practically all biological studies involving immune responses. Antimicrobial host-defense peptides (AMPs) are major components of metazoan immunity, …

Water Quality Testing of Yamuna River at Poiya Ghat (Vaikunth Dham/Swarg Dham), Agra: A Systems Study
Abstract: Since pre-historic times, river water has been used as a source of drinking water. River water is now a source of hydropower generation, irrigation, aquaculture, navigation, transportation, socioeconomic activities, human settlements and home for aquatic living forms. Apart from this, river water has very vital role in maintaining soil fertility, wildlife conservation and development of forest resources. Due to increase in industrialization, urbanization, mining, sewage disposal and rampant use of …

Polymer Use in Soilless Farming Systems with A Comparative Study on Hydroponics and Aquaponics
Abstract: Hydroponics and aquaponics are innovative, sustainable agricultural methods that achieve high productivity with minimal land and water usage in controlled environments. Hydroponics, a technique that involves growing plants in nutrient-rich water solutions, utilizes various polymer-based components. Aquaponics, a symbiotic system combining aquaculture and hydroponics, also relies on polymer-based materials. These soilless techniques are crucial for producing vegetables, fruits, and other crops without relying on soil, allowing adaptability across various locations. …

Growth and Stomach Content of Pellonula leonensis from New Calabar River, Rivers State, Nigeria
Abstract: The growth and food of Pellonula leonensis from the New Calabar River, Port Harcourt, Nigeria was studied, with the view of developing a proper feed that could meet the fish nutritional needs if reared in captivity. Analysis of growth using the length and weight measurements by applying regression analysis indicated that the fish had an allometric growth (2.6425 ± 0.078), and a condition factor of 0.8731. The fish’s food preferences …

Antimicrobial Peptides in Fiddler Crabs: Structural Analysis and Potential Applications
Abstract: Crustaceans represent the largest and most ecologically and economically significant group of marine and aquatic arthropods. Their biomass and critical role in ecosystems highlight their importance. Among crustaceans, decapods are frequently used as model organisms in studies of immune responses due to their significant commercial value and the need to mitigate disease outbreaks in shellfish aquaculture. Antimicrobial host-defense peptides (AMPs) are pivotal in metazoan immunity, especially for invertebrates lacking adaptive …

Assessment of Spatial Variations in Water Quality and Environmental Impacts on Freshwater Ecosystems A Case Study of Lakes Around Puducherry
Abstract: This study examines the water quality of Kanagan Lake, Osuteri Lake, and the Chunnambar River to evaluate environmental changes and their significance to Puducherry's ecosystem. A multidisciplinary approach was employed to assess key water quality parameters, including pH, dissolved oxygen, nutrient levels, and pollutant concentrations, providing a comprehensive understanding of the ecological health of these water bodies. The analysis revealed significant spatial variations in water quality across the sites, driven …

Assessment of Several Feed Varieties in Carp Polyculture
Abstract: This six-month aquaculture study evaluated the effects of four distinct feeding treatments on the production and development of a five-species polyculture system comprising common carp (Cyprinus carpio), grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella), Rohu, Katla, and Mrigel. The experiment utilized the total volume for eight ponds, each with a volume of 150 m3 is 1200 m3 (cubic meters) to compare: T1 (finely chopped Dubo grass and mash feed), T2 (sinking pellet), T3 …

Marine Microbial Ecology: A Comprehensive Review of Interactions, Symbiosis, and Bioprospecting.
Abstract: Marine microorganisms constitute the largest and most dynamic fraction of Earth's biodiversity, governing vital ecosystem functions ranging from global biogeochemical cycling to host-specific symbiotic associations. This review provides a comprehensive synthesis of the complex interaction networks within marine microbial communities. We first explore the theoretical foundations of microbial niche construction and evolutionary dynamics in the ocean. Subsequent sections dissect micro-scale interactions within the phycosphere, where chemical gradients dictate cross-kingdom mutualisms …
