An Integrated Application of Remote Sensing, GIS and VES for Artificial Recharging at Watershed from South Solapur Taluka, Solapur District, Maharashtra
Abstract: Over growing demand of water has led scientific community to plan augmentation of ground water by various methods. The objectives achieved in present study are to arrest run-off and silt flow, to facilitate infiltration of water. The study area considered is a small Micro Watershed from South Solapur District which is Drought prone zone. The study was an attempt to delineate the possible recharge zone for groundwater and also to …

Soil liquefaction vulnerability assessment of Sylhet city based on SPT value
Abstract: Bangladesh is an earthquake-prone country due to its geographic location. Sylhet, a divisional city, is situated in Zone IV, the most seismically active area in the country, according to the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC). A major earthquake can cause devastating effects in the subsurface, such as liquefaction, landslides resulting from a reduction of soil shear resistance. In this study, liquefaction potentiality of soil in Ward No. 9 of Sylhet …

Methane Recovery From Gas Hydrate By Cool Frack Method
Abstract: Methane in Gas hydrates are the most believed energy source for the future. These are solid crystalline ice with hydrogen bonded water molecules, which traps the guest molecules such as methane, propane, H2S, etc., in its cages. It commonly found in permafrost and deep oceanic sediments and occur in oil and gas pipelines. The extraction of methane from gas hydrates without any geo-hazard and economic efficient is what still a …

Challenges and Prospects of the Use of Horizontal Directional Drilling Techniques for Laying Oil and Gas Pipelines in Nigeria
Abstract: Nigeria pipelines, especially the petroleum and petroleum product pipelines are always vandalized by the sabotage. Huge amount of money is expended to put the damaged pipeline in good shape; and petroleum and petroleum product transfer is sometimes hampered due to leakages and damages caused by the oil thieves. Also huge money is being budgeted yearly to secure the pipelines. To combat this problem, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) is being proposed. …

Chemical Sand Consolidation: An Overview
Abstract: Sand production from reservoir is a critical issue related to oil/gas fields because it gives rise to many serious problems in oil/gas production. Sand production from wells can damage the surface and subsurface facilities as well as it can reduce the well productivity, thus it can have adverse effects on economy of oil production. Sand control is requisite to economical extraction of oil/gas from the unconsolidated formations. So the development …

Improved Prediction of Fluid Contacts using Calibrated Material Balance Models
Abstract: The demand for oil has been on the high in the recent past and will continue as search for sustainable alternative energy sources intensifies. The exploration and exploitation of oil from subsurface reservoirs have posed several environmental challenges which include flaring and improper water disposal to name a few, caused by excessive production of gas and water. Hence, it is important to establish a reservoir performance monitoring scheme that will …

Review on Chemical Separation of Crude Oil and Analysis of Its Components
Abstract: Crude oil is chemically composed of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons of different gaseous, liquid and solid states, the total of which may reach more than 17,000 organic compounds. At standard conditions of pressure and temperature the light hydrocarbons with carbon numbers 1 to 4 (methane, ethane, propane, butane) are present in gaseous form; Whereas pentane and the heavier hydrocarbons are found in liquid form, and in the heavy fractions …

Groundwater Darcy Velocity from underground Temperature: A Focus on the City of Turin (NW Italy)
Abstract: We report on an application of a methodology for inferring water transfer in a shallow aquifer by using analytical models of interpretation of heat transport by advection and conduction in permeable horizons. In this research, we highlight as the statistical interpretation of thermal data is a tool to obtain a quantitative estimation of the horizontal component of the Darcy velocity in a shallow aquifer. This study is based on the …

Child Rescue System from Borewells Using Arduino
Abstract: India is facing water crisis constantly. India grapples persistently with an ongoing water crisis. It holds the unfortunate distinction of being the largest global extractor of groundwater, a perilous trend that jeopardizes political, economic stability, and public health in the long term. Consequently, there has been a surge in borewell installations tapping into subsurface aquifers, often situated in human-populated areas, with some failing to yield adequate groundwater resources. The traditional …

Structural and Hydrogeological Characterization of the Olkaria Dome Geothermal Field, Lake Naivasha Basin
Abstract: The Olkaria Dome Geothermal Field in the Lake Naivasha Basin is one of Kenya's principal geothermal resource areas, where fluid circulation and reservoir performance are strongly controlled by geological structures and hydrogeological conditions. This study integrates geological, structural, hydrogeological, mineralogical, and soil-gas data to characterize reservoir permeability and fluid flow pathways. Correlation of lithological units with drilling circulation-loss zones identifies highly fractured formations that enhance geothermal fluid movement. Mineralogical mapping …
