Evaluation and Fabrication of 3D-Printed Bioactive β-TCP/PCL Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Engineering
Abstract: Bone is one of the tissue types that is transplanted the most worldwide. Each year, there are over four million procedures that incorporate the use of bone grafts or substitutes to help heal bone deficiencies. These treatments are still limited greatly, and there is always a demand for help because of trauma, cancer, infection, and arthritis. Because of this, researchers are targeting improvement in developing bioactive three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds that …

Mechanical and Physicochemical Characteristics of Nano-Hydroxyapatite Polymer Composites
Abstract: This study focuses on the development and characterization of nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAp)-reinforced poly (lactic acid) (PLA) composites for biomedical applications. The composites, prepared with varying nHAp content (5–25 wt%), were evaluated for their mechanical and physicochemical properties, including tensile strength, Young’s modulus, elongation at break, thermal stability, hydrophilicity, and crystallinity. Results revealed that tensile strength increased significantly with the incorporation of nHAp, reaching a peak of 62 MPa at 15 wt%, …

AI-Optimized Biodegradable Polymer Composites for Medical Applications
Abstract: The value of biodegradable polymer composites in the medical practice has been massive as the composites may be deployed to provide temporary structural support, and they are also safe to degrade within the human body. However, the conventional material design process is trial and error, which is ineffective and inefficient. The article proposes a hybrid model involving experimental characterization, as well as an artificial intelligence (AI)-based model, to optimize biodegradable …

Bioinspired Nanocomposite Bone Pins: Fabrication, Evaluation, and Suitability for Orthopedic Implant Applications
Abstract: Bone tissue engineering (BTE) requires scaffolds that mimic bone’s mineral–organic composition, offering mechanical strength, bioactivity, and degradation rates compatible with regeneration. Conventional metallic implants face corrosion and toxic ion release risks, while ceramics like hydroxyapatite (HAp) are bioactive but brittle. This study reports a multifunctional hybrid scaffold combining HAp for osteoconductivity; polycaprolactone (PCL) and collagen for flexibility and biocompatibility with sodium citrate for nanoparticle dispersion, ferrocene (Fc) for catalytic bioactivity; …

Evaluation of Polymer-Ceramic Scaffolds for Dental Bone Regeneration
Abstract: Looking at the aspects of periodontal disease, traumatic injury, congenital defects, and the preparation of implant sites, the deficiency of dental bone, and its reconstruction, which has been simplified by many by oral and maxillofacial surgery, has proven to be a very hard and tedious task. There are many solutions which are clinically accepted, as the use of auto, allo, and xenografts, very common practices in surgery, but they come …

Wireless Biosensing Polymer Composites for Smart Healthcare Devices
Abstract: The wireless biosensing polymer composites have been found as one of the possible solutions in developing flexible, real-time and intelligent healthcare monitoring systems. Biomimic polymer matrices coupled with conductive nanomaterials can be used to design an understanding of physiological signals (strain, pressure, and temperature) that are highly sensitive and adaptable sensors. The attachment of these sensors to wireless communication systems, such as the Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi, eases the …
