Next-Generation Conductive Polymer Composites for Flexible and Wearable Electronics
Abstract: The rising demand for flexible and wearable electronics has accelerated research into conductive polymer composites (CPCs) due to their lightweight nature, electrical conductivity, and mechanical flexibility. Despite significant advancements, challenges such as reduced conductivity under mechanical deformation and limited durability persist. This study aims to develop next-generation CPCs with enhanced conductivity, flexibility, and self-healing capabilities. Hybrid nanofillers—graphene, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and silver nanowires (AgNWs)—were incorporated into bio-based conductive polymers through …

Effect of Carbonyl Iron Particle Concentration on The Printability and Stiffness of Magnetorheological Elastomer Filaments
Abstract: Magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) are increasingly valued for their field-responsive mechanical properties, making them ideal for adaptive components in automotive, aerospace, and vibration control systems. However, conventional mould-based fabrication methods limit design flexibility, produce excess material waste, and are unsuitable for complex or customized geometries caused challenges that have hindered broader industrial adoption. Although 3D printing offers a compelling alternative, research on printable MRE filaments remains limited, particularly regarding how carbonyl …

Marine Algal Microfiber and Agro-Waste Reinforced Crosslinked Polymer Composites for Sustainable Coastal Materials
Abstract: Crosslinked bio-polymer composites reinforced with marine algal microfibers and agro-waste fillers were fabricated and systematically characterized for sustainable coastal applications. Mechanical testing revealed that tensile strength increased from 18.5 MPa for neat polymer to 25.1 MPa at 20 wt.% reinforcement (~35% improvement), while the flexural modulus improved from 0.72 GPa to 1.02 GPa (~42% increase). Impact strength, however, decreased from 3.8 kJ/m² for neat polymer to 2.9 kJ/m² at 30 …

Solar-Responsive Photo-Thermal Polymer Composites with Carbon Nanostructures for On-Demand Water Purification
Abstract: The development of solar-responsive polymer nanocomposites offers a sustainable pathway for water purification. In this work, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were fabricated and systematically investigated for their mechanical, thermal, viscoelastic, and thermal transport properties. Neat PVA displayed moderate tensile strength (~38 MPa) and high elongation (~165%), whereas 1.0 wt% nanofiller loading enhanced tensile strength to ~52 MPa and modulus to …

Polymer Matrix Characterization and Interfacial Engineering in Bamboo/Sisal/Chopped Mat Hybrid Fiber Composites
Abstract: The present investigation focuses on the characterization of polymer matrices and the interfacial behavior of bamboo, sisal, and chopped strand mat (CSM) fiber-reinforced epoxy composites. The work aims to understand how natural fibers influence the curing, thermal, and adhesion properties of hybrid composite systems. Experimental analyses were carried out using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to evaluate curing …

Effect of Red Mud Loading on the Thermal and Mechanical Performance of Polypropylene Composites
Abstract: Waste red mud (RM) serves as a low-cost and sustainable filler material in a polypropylene (PP) matrix. This study investigate the effects of different red mud contents on the dynamic mechanical and thermal properties of polypropylene-red mud (RM-PP) composites where red mud levels range from 0% to 40% (based on weight percentage). Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was conducted for verifying the presence of both polypropylene and red mud in …

Hybrid Polymer Composites Reinforced with Coconut Shell Fillers and Silica Fume: Synergistic Effects of Industrial By-Products : A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: The increasing requirement of sustainable and high-performance engineering materials has led to increased research in hybrid polymer composites comprising sustainable fillers in the form of renewable biomass or industrial by-products. Among the various bio-fillers that exist, coconut shell filler is gaining much prominence due to its low density, high content of lignin, hardness, and abundance as agricultural waste. Another industrial by-product that is rich in amorphous silica and possesses high …
