Ileal Ureteral Substitution for Long Ureteric Structure/Segment Loss by Yang-Monti Technique. A Single Centre Experience
Abstract: A new technique for replacing the ureter based on the Yang-Monti principle is introduced to overcome the drawbacks of the classic ileal ureter. Between January 2007 and January 2014, ureteral replacement by ileum was indicated in nine patients, long or multiple strictures due to tuberculosis (6), retroperitoneal tumor (1) and iatriagenic ureteric injury during ureteroscopic (2). Exclusion criteria included patients with inflammatory bowel syndrome or irradiated bowel or a non-functioning …

Obstetric Risks and Complications for Pregnant Women with Epilepsy: A Review
Abstract: Although epilepsy is a prevalent neurological condition, pregnant women with epilepsy face additional problems. A woman's risk of preeclampsia/eclampsia increases if she has epilepsy, as do other obstetrical issues such as premature labour and delivery, foetal loss due to ectopic pregnancy, induced abortion, caesarean section, stillbirth, and low birth weight kids. Epileptic mothers' babies are particularly vulnerable to serious birth defects and long-term neurological problems. For pregnant women with epilepsy, …

Is Bone Graft Possible without Limit in Length for Nonunion of Ulna Alone?
Abstract: Background: When either the radius or ulna is united, and the other fails to heal, bone graft and bridge plating can be a choice to treat nonunion of the radius or ulna alone. The length of the bone used to fill the bony defect, however, has not yet been found in terms of biomechanics or biology for healing. The purpose of this study was to find the length of bone …

A Rare Variant of Holoprosencephaly: Ethmocephaly with Inferior Proboscis and Amelia
Abstract: Ethmocephaly is a rare phenotypic variant of holoprosencephaly, characterized by the failure of embryonic prosencephalon to properly divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities with grossly incomplete morphogenesis of fore brain. The severity has a marked variability and ranges from hypotelorism to cyclopia with craniofacial dysmorphism, such as microcephaly with a single central incisor. Reports of this anomaly are few and because of the rarity even among Holoprosencephaly. …

Type 2 Diabetic Dyslipidemia: A Review
Abstract: Diabetic dyslipidemia is a pathological condition where persistent rise in blood glucose level gives rise to derangement of lipids vis-a vis lipoproteins; which in turn increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Although both forms of diabetes mellitus that is, Diabetes mellitus Type-1 (insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or IDDM) and Diabetes mellitus Type-2 (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or NIDDM) can alter lipid arrangement but Type-2 is more common (80–90%) form of diabetes mellitus, …

Anatomic Study of Neurofasciocutaneous Flap of Lower Leg
Abstract: Soft tissue defects of lower leg and foot have a high incidence and are not easily healed for its anatomic physiological properties. Moreover, they tend to recur easily after healing with a long duration of disability. Accompanying arteries of the superficial limb nerves supply not only nerves but also skin through their branches, and such close relationship between nerve and skin supplies can ensure the survival of the neurofasciocutaneous flaps. …

The Effect of Irsal-E-Alaq (Leech) in the Management of Varicose Vein: A Review
Abstract: The varicose vein is defined as “dilated tortuous and elongated superficial vein of lower limb. Dawali (varicose veins) is one of the commonest categories of primary venous insufficiency. In Unani system of medicine, “Dawali” is described in almost all classical books of Unani medicine, synonymous with varicose veins. Varicose veins are classified into primary and secondary types. Primary varicose veins occur more frequently, and are caused by incompetent or absent …

Role of Asbab-e-Sitta Zarooriya in Ziyabetus Shakri (Diabetes Mellitus) an insight of Unani Medicine: A Review
Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, action or both. This can arise in many different ways but it is most commonly due to autoimmune type 1 diabetes or to adult-onset type 2 diabetes. Lack of insulin affects the metabolism of carbohydrate, protein and fat, and can cause a significant disturbance of water and electrolyte homeostasis. Globally an estimated 422 million adults …

Particle Swarm Optimization based PID controller for Extrusion Process
Abstract: The process called extrusion was used for making objects of fixed cross-sectional profile by pushing or pulling the material through the die of the preferred cross-section. The extrusion process was a nonlinear process in which the quality of the product relies on various parameters such as temperature, extrusion speed, etc.; hence there should be a controller working in an optimized manner required to maintain these parameters properly suitable for the …
