Classical Physics versus Quantum Physics: An Overview
Abstract: Newtonian mechanics is the foundation of Classical Physics. Newton’s mechanics, Thermodynamics, Wave theory of Optics and Maxwell’s electromagnetic theory belong to regime of Classical Physics and can be used to explain a wide range of phenomena in the Universe at macroscopic scale. These theories fail spectacularly when applied to phenomena in the atomic and nuclear regime, for example, proton-atom scattering or the flow of electrons in a semiconductor. Quantum mechanics …

Bioprocessing of Used X-ray Films for Silver Recovery by Thermoalkaliphilic Protease from Thermus aquaticus YT-1
Abstract: An environmentally benign enzymatic method for recovery of silver and polyethylene from used X-ray films was developed. This industrially scalable enzymatic process for the recovery of silver was investigated using the thermophilic alkaline protease from Thermus aquaticus YT-1. The rate of gelatin hydrolysis of X-ray film increased with the temperature till 70 ºC, suggesting enzyme stability till 70 ºC. Further, pH 10 was optimum for this process. Transparent polyethylene film …

Identification of Diabetic Foot Ulcer by Using Filter and Pixel Classification Methods
Abstract: Ulceration of the foot in diabetes is common and disabling and frequently leads to amputation of the leg. Mortality is high and healed ulcers often recur. The pathogenesis of foot ulceration is complex, clinical presentation variable, and management requires early expert assessment. Interventions should be directed at infection, peripheral ischaemia, and abnormal pressure-loading caused by peripheral neuropathy and limited joint mobility. Despite treatment, ulcers readily become chronic wounds. Diabetic foot …

Rust Resistance in Hexaploid Wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em Thell)
Abstract: Wheat (Triticum aestivum L. Em Thell) is the ‘golden grain’ of the cereals and plays a vital role in the contribution of global food. Wheat yield in India grew at a rate of 3.5% during 1940–82 and had a sudden decline during the next two decades to 2.9%. This decline can be attributed due to: (1) lack of improvement in the genetic yield potential, and (2) susceptibility to diseases. The …
