A Comparative Study of the Structure–Property Relationships in CAD/CAM Milled vs. 3D-Printed High-Performance Polymers: Impact of Molecular Orientation on Abrasive-Wear Resistance
Abstract: Background: The transition from subtractive to additive manufacturing in prosthetic dentistry has introduced significant variations in the macromolecular architecture of high-performance polymers. While CAD/CAM milling utilizes high-density, industrially polymerized blocks, 3D printing (Additive Manufacturing) relies on layer-by-layer deposition, which may induce anisotropic molecular orientation. This retrospective study investigates how these distinct manufacturing “thermal histories” influence the long-term abrasive-wear resistance of PEEK and PEKK restorations. Materials and Methods: Data were retrospectively …

A Review on Current Status of Biodegradable Surgical Implant Materials
Abstract: Since many years, inert metals such as stainless steel, cobalt-chromium and titanium alloys have been the primary biomaterials used for load bearing applications. In order to these metallic implants such as pins, screws and plates for repairing the defects have to be removed by secondary surgery once the bone tissue is healed, which will increase the morbidity, pain and cost. Hence conventional metallic biomaterials are biocompatible but not biodegradable. At …

Structure–Property-Guided Polymer–Metal Hybrid Design of a Wall Plastering Spray Assembly
Abstract: Wall plastering spray equipment requires a combination of low mass, dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, chemical compatibility with cementitious mortar, and comfortable operator interaction. The original assembly was primarily developed as a metallic mechanical system; however, a polymer-focused material architecture can reduce non-load-bearing mass while retaining a safe metallic pressure path. This study, therefore, presents a structure–property-guided polymer–metal hybrid design in which the pressure housing and nozzle insert remain metallic, whereas …

Autonomous Agentic AI for Adaptive Cure Optimization and Defect Prevention in Thermoset Polymer Composite Manufacturing
Abstract: Thermoset polymer composites occupy a central position in modern structural manufacturing, from aircraft fuselages to wind-turbine blades. Despite progress in resin chemistry and fiber architecture, the “cure process” that transforms compliant preforms into load-bearing structures remains difficult to manage. Manufacturers encounter ‘voids’, “interlaminar delaminations”, and “spring-back distortion” when curing complex or thick-section parts. The cause is not ignorance of the relevant physics, but rather that ‘temperature’, ‘chemistry’, ‘rheology’, and ‘mechanics’ …
