Abstract

Hatchbacks are currently the best-selling vehicles on the market. Consequently, they are expecting more from these medium cheap cars. These expectations might be met by improving the car's performance in terms of fuel efficiency, looks, and speed, as well as lowering the drag force that is applied to it. By lowering the drag coefficient and drag forces, it would be simple to increase speed and fuel efficiency. Drag is one of the main variables influencing a car's fuel efficiency and speed. Therefore, altering the car's design would help us achieve these objectives. This research focuses on the design and analysis of an automobile's drag reduction. About 50 to 60 percent of the fuel energy is lost to overcome the drag force, which pulls the car from behind to slow it down. Therefore, we must streamline its shapes to ensure aerodynamic drag is reduced. Since the Volkswagen Polo model has been the most popular used car on the Indian market, we have selected it. Computational fluid dynamics is used to construct the car model in Solid Works software and analyse it in ANSYS Fluent (CFD Analysis). Spoilers and a diffuser, for example, would lessen the car's drag coefficient. The best model will be chosen based on the values of Cl and Cd.
