Abstract

Berberis asiatica, belongs to family Berberidaceae, is commonly known as Asian barberry or Kilmora. The plant is widely distributed in Himalayas. Research evidences support its use in various traditional medicinal formulas. Properties like antimicrobial, antidiebetic, anticancerous etc. have been reported in this plant.
