Abstract

AbstractThe current investigation was endeavored at formulating and evaluating a poly-herbal formulation. The poly-herbal formulation was a combination of 10 herbal ingredients which was phyto-chemically screened for the detection of various phyto-constituents. The formulation was subjected to in vitro Anti-Arthritic and Anthelmintic activity studies. Anti-Arthritic activity was evaluated using various concentrations of the formulation (100 μg/ml, 250 μg/ml, and 500 μg/ml) and Diclofenac sodium (100 μg/ml, 250 μg/ml, and 500 μg/ml), the reference standard. The percentage inhibition of protein denaturation was determined. Anthelmintic activity of the preparation was evaluated on Indian Earthworm in which paralysis time and death time shown by the test preparation (50 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml) was compared with that of the standard Albendazole (50 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml). The outcome of the present study signifies that the preparation showed the presence of various phyto-constituents such as alkaloids, tannins, flavanoids, steroids, glycosides etc. and showed noteworthy anti-arthritic activity and Anthelmintic activity. The higher concentration of PHF was found to possess better anti-arthritic activity and Anthelmintic activity as compared to the formulation at a lower concentration. The Anthelmintic activity and anti-arthritic activity of the prepared PHF was comparable with that of the activity possessed by the standard drug Albendazole and Diclofenac sodium respectively. Keywords: Albendazole, Anthelmintic, Petrochemicals, Pheretimaposthuma, PHFCite this ArticleN.L.
