Abstract

Classically, renin-angiotensin system (RAS), for a long time, has been perceived as the main regulator of cardiovascular homeostasis, due to its effect on blood vessels contraction or cardiac hypertrophy and is known to maintain blood pressure and body fluids. Hence, its pharmacological regulation is mainly associated with the management of hypertension. Currently, it was found that the RAS is involved in a broad range of physiological processes and diseases. RAS can induce physiological and pathological responses related to cancer biology, including tumor growth, cell proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and inflammation, indicating the main cellular transduction processes activated by main RAS pathways. This review focuses on the role of RAS in cancer and its role in the liver regeneration for patients with colorectal cancer liver metastasis. Keywords: Renin-angiotensin system, colorectal cancer, liver regenerationCite this ArticleMuluken AA, Khalid B.
