Abstract

COVID-19 or coronavirus disease 2019 is a pandemic contagion, leading to the death of many more people globally. In simpler terms, COVID-19 is a very contagious illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which stands for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. The main aim of the present paper was to give an update about the incidence, mode of spread, viral multiplication, treatments available, complications with future expectations. The virus's ability to spread is rapidly intensifying every day on a global scale. It has become a healthcare concern above all other comorbidities. One of the possible causes of such rapid spread is the inadequacy of the assessment of risk regarding the situational urgency. Its spread crossed the incidence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Only one way can defeat the virus that is slowing the spread through social distancing, personal protection, and self-awareness. As a result, the burden on healthcare providers is ultimately lessened.. Therefore this coronavirus disease draws immediate attention for the therapeutic management of the virus. Thus the present paper reviewed the literature of all available information on the history, epidemiology, virion structure, its replication, sign and symptoms, antivirals available, and its future perspectives with a special note on myth, fact and management during pregnancy.
