Abstract

The aim of present study is to formulate and evaluate Luliconazole Microemulgel. Microemulgel is combination of microemulsion and gel. The problem associated with delivery of hydrophobic drug can be solved by incorporating drug in microemulsion and then microemulsion is combined with gel to form microemulgel. Solubility of Luliconazole is determined and it was found to be soluble in ethanol, methanol, chloroform, while it was insoluble in water. The melting point of Luliconazole was determined and found to be within the range of 149°C to 151°C. Further confirmation of drug authenticity and purity was done by UV Spectroscopy where maximum absorption peak found at 297 nm. FTIR study shown that drug and excipients are compatible with each other. formulation batches was prepared and optimized on the basis of evaluating parameters such as Physical Appearance, pH, Spreadability, Extrudability, Rheological study, drug content, zeta potential, In Vitro drug release. The Formulation batch F4 shown highest in vitro cumulative drug release 90.86% and drug content 97.08%.
