Mechanism of Odontogenic Pain: Clinical Considerations

Abstract

Management of Dental Pain, especially, in Endodontics requires a clear understanding and comprehensive knowledge of underlying various kinds of nerve fibers, their type, composition, structure, conduction speed and pain associated. Just by attentive audition of Dental History of patient, clinician can predict and comprehend the basic mechanism of the Odontogenic pain which assists him culminating upon a provisional diagnosis. An attempt herein is made to elaborate the different types of nerve fibers encountered in Dental Pulp and the periodontium, consequently leading to understanding of association of various types of nerve fibers with divergent experienced pains of patient.
