Tribulus Terrestris wsr to Its Clinical and Pharmacological Review

Abstract

Tribulus terrestris is a perennial plant, grown predominantly in India and Africa. In India it is commonly known as Gokharu and other vernacular names are gokhurkata (Assamese), gokhrim (Bengali), michikand (Kashmiri), sarate (Marathi), Cltrops fruit (English). It is having both curative and nutritive values. Gokshura also having high nutritional value also be rich source of calcium. Its leaves contain calcium, carbohydrate, fat, fiber, iron, oxalates, phosphorus, and protein due to these properties it helps to improve the general health condition and thus improve the blood circulation. Its extract contains alkaloids; saponins, resins, flavonoids and nitrates. Considering its therapeutic values, a review has been done to gather information on different aspect of Gokshura. Bedside Ayurvedic references carried on this plant for its clinical and pharmacological evaluation.
