Improved Film Cooling with Hybrid Arrangement of Cooling Holes
Abstract: In the present work, numerical study of full coverage film cooling on an adiabatic flat plate is carried out. Cylindrical holes of 30° injection angle are used to supply cold air into the hot primary flow. Adiabatic film cooling effectiveness is calculated at different velocity ratios to study the film cooling performance. A new hybrid arrangement of film cooling holes is presented by splitting the full coverage of film holes …

Linear Stability Analysis of Taylor-Couette Flow with and without Viscous Heating
Abstract: This paper presents linear stability analysis of the incompressible viscous flow between the two concentric counter rotating cylinders. The parallel flow assumption is applied; hence the mean flow is the function of radial coordinate only. The main objective of this study is to explore the effect of the viscous heating, Nahme number and radius ratio (Ratio of inner to outer cylinder radius, η) on the stability characteristics of Taylor-Couette flow. …

Investigation of Parameters Determining Thermosyphon Flow-Velocity in a Simulated Solar Water Heater
Abstract: Real life experimental investigations that involve natural variables are essential and necessary in determining the performance characteristics of systems that depend on them but they are not easily repeatable under the same conditions. The alternative approach is the modelling and simulation of such systems. This work however, is concerned with the experimental investigation of the performance characteristics of thermosyphon solar water heating system using an electrically simulated collector. Heating rate …

Fabrication and Analysis of Evacuated Tube Solar Air Heater
Abstract: The development of renewable energy technology is important for the future to balance global energy. Now we are at the stage where the search for other alternative methods that replace the electricity has become pinnacle. This work is essentially based on the alternative methods by which we can reduce the consumption of electricity. Solar air heating is one of them is not only pollution free, but also cheap in operation. …
