Cadmium Accumulation in Different Tissues and DNA Content Alteration in Cat Fish (Clarias batrachus) Exposed to Lethal Concentration of Cadmium
Abstract: In the present study, the acute toxicity experiment was conducted to evaluate LC50 of Cadmium chloride (CdCl2) on Clarias batrachus which was found to be 450 ppm for 96 h. Clarias batrachus (average length of 8.5 ± 0.4 cm and the average weight of 13.5 ± 0.393 g) was exposed to sub-lethal concentration (140 ppm) and lethal (450 ppm) concentrations of Cd for 14 days. The Cd accumulation in tissues …

Attenuation of Doxorubicin-induced Hepato- and Nephrotoxicity by Proanthocyanidins from Myrica nagi Bark in Wistar Rats
Abstract: Due to dose-related toxic effects, doxorubicin, a very potent and often used anti-cancer medication, is largely limited. The current research investigated the protective impact of Myrica nagi bark (PMN)-isolated proanthocyanidins on hepato-induced doxorubicin and nephrotoxicity in Wistar rats. The animals were subdivided into six classes of five rats each. Group I got PMN (200 mg/kg, p.o.) for 21 days, Group II received Doxorubicin (DXR) (60 mg/kg, i.p.) once, 48 h …

Statistical Study on Self-Medication and Drug use Pattern in Urban and Rural Areas of Nashik, Maharashtra
Abstract: Self-medication methodology involves taking medications without a doctor's supervision or on their basis or others advice. Self-medication and the use of over-the-counter medications are serious public health concerns worldwide. The study aimed to evaluate self-medication and drug use patterns among urban and rural populations based on their knowledge in Nashik. A descriptive cross-sectional and questionnaire-based study with the prevalence of self-medication and drug use patterns was conducted among 500 people …

Sub-acute Toxicity of β-cyfluthrin in Hepatic Tissue and its Amelioration through Punica granatum in Swiss albino mice
Abstract: β-cyfluthrin, member of synthetic pyrethroid pesticide Type II is broadly used multipurpose insecticide. Widespread and indiscriminate use of β-cyfluthrin leads to environmental contamination and toxicity towards nontarget mammalian systems. The present study was undertaken to examine toxic manifestation of β-cyfluthrin in hepatic tissue of Swiss albino mice and also evaluate possible mitigative potential of pomegranate juice (PJ) in combating pesticide induced hepato-toxicity. Animals were divided into five groups namely, control, …

A Review of Toxicity, Genotoxicity and Teratogenicity of Formaldehyde
Abstract: Formaldehyde (FA) is important chemical found outdoor and indoor source, it is commonly used in the production of industrial, laboratories and household fule. Most FA exposure occurs by inhalation or by skin or eye contact. It is rapidly absorbed by lungs, gastrointestinal tract and skin. FA easily reacts with amino group in molecular compounds such as proteins and nucleic acid; these reactions caused alterations in tissues and leading to toxicity …
