Groundwater Contamination in Punjab due to Arsenic, Selenium and Uranium Heavy Metals
Abstract: Punjab is facing a crisis situation due to high levels of heavy metals in underground water table of Punjab. ICAR has reported arsenic beyond safe limit in 13 districts of Punjab. According to PWSSD report, out of all arsenic contaminated habitations in Punjab, 60% fall in Majha belt of Punjab, namely, Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran districts. Arsenic contamination can be get rid of by using a nanotechnology based technique …

Is Bottled Water Better than Tap Water?
Abstract: Objective: There has been a persistent rise in bottled water consumption over the last two decades. Little is known about the health benefits of bottled water. The purpose of this study was to improve understanding of the public's health believes concerning bottled mineral water, and to know whether these believes influence water consumption habits. Method: Extensive review of literature was done to compare bottled water and tap water and also …

Uranium and Heavy Metal Contamination of Sirhind Canal Water and Groundwater in the Malwa Belt of Punjab and its Mitigation Strategies
Abstract: Inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICPMS) has been used to measure the Uranium and heavy metals content of the Sirhind canal water and ground water samples of adjoining villages of the collection points along the canal. The aim of this study is to propose mitigation strategies for Uranium in the groundwater of Malwa belt. The uranium and heavy metal content of the water samples collected at the five different locations …

Toxicity Evaluation of a Few PAHs on a Local Freshwater Fish—Rasbora daniconius
Abstract: Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) have become ubiquitous pollutants of water resulting mainly from petroleum products. These are absorbed into the living systems and converted into secondary metabolites which show bioaccumulation in the living systems and have several deleterious effects on them. The present study attempts to evaluate toxicity of two such PAHs— Naphthalene and Anthracene—on the freshwater fish, Rasbora daniconius, using pure PAHs dissolved in dichloromethane. LC50 values were seen …

Synthesis and Characterization of TiO2 1% SiO2 of Crystal and its Bacterial Applications
Abstract: Three-dimensional (3D) TiO2 Anatase and Rutile structures have attracted much attention due to their optical properties. However, the large band gap of (3.2 eV) results in the fact that anatase TiO2 can act as photo catalyst and be excited by UV light, which only accounts for 3–5% of the solar energy. On considering that nobel metallatic nanomaterials can harvest visible light, in this paper, TiO2 and SiO2 nanocrystals with rod …

Review on Histological Effect of Lead on Liver and Kidney
Abstract: Our environment can be polluted by environmental toxins which are chemicals and other materials produced largely from industry and its products. There are large numbers of environmental toxicants which are potentially harmful to health. These large numbers of environmental toxicants can be divided into three major categories (heavy metals, air pollutants, and pesticides) and they are commonly studied environmental toxicants. Environmental toxins can be entered into the body by various …
