The Elliott Wave Principle and its Applications in Security Analysis
Abstract: The study is determined on an analysis and pattern recognition of equity or share price, which are fractal in nature. Elliott waves are considered as the crowded psychological effect. The wave principle used by trader or investor to evaluate market cycle and forecast the future trend of market by identifying the waves with price movement of market. The share price fluctuations are due to several economic and non-economic factors. Among …

Comparison between Generalized Least Square Method and Quantile Regression in Dealing with Heteroscedastic Data
Abstract: Heteroscedastic data arise from a population whose sub-populations have different variabilities from one another. In presence of heteroscedasticity, the OLS estimators no longer remain the BLUEs, giving rise to wider acceptance regions and confidence intervals for the model parameters. The generalized least square technique, specifically weighted least square method is the conventional way of eliminating heteroscedasticity. However, quantile regression can also be used in dealing with this kind of data. …

Mixture Probability with Rayleigh Model and Application in Reliability
Abstract: Single Rayleigh distribution (RD) is a unimodal two tailed probability distribution. It is useful for the data which spreads equally to the two sides of its modal value. Some properties of the Rayleigh distribution have been discussed in this paper. Mixture distributions arise in engineering, economics, sciences, biosciences, medical sciences and play vital role. While modeling a great variety of data, a mixture model has been defined (investigated) with mixture …

Automated Vessel Segmentation of Retinal Vessels using Hybrid Region Information
Abstract: AbstractRecent researches state that the categorization of retinal vessels into artery/vein (A/V) is a critical phase for automating the detection of vascular adjustments and for the calculation of function symptoms related to numerous systemic illnesses which includes diabetes, high blood pressure, and different cardiovascular situations. This paper affords an automatic method for A/V class, primarily based on the evaluation of a graph extracted from the retinal vasculature. The proposed method …

Efficiency Measurement in the Indian IT Industry using Data Envelopment Analysis
Abstract: AbstractIndia is the world’s largest sourcing destination for the information technology (IT) industry. The industry has increased its contribution to India’s GDP from 1.2% in 1998 to about 9.5% in 2015. India is now one of the biggest IT hubs of the world, and all the major global players in the IT industry are present in the country. The industry employs about ten million Indians and has contributed significantly to …

Estimation of Process Capability Index Using Confidence Intervals of Process Parameters
Abstract: The conventional process capability index (PCI) is a measure of process performance whose value depends on the process mean (), standard deviation () and the specified tolerance. The point estimates of and are used to estimate the PCI. In this paper, a new PCI is proposed by utilizing the 100(1-)% Confidence Intervals (CI) for both and . This has led to nine possible estimates of PCI which …

Model Based Clustering using Finite Mixture Models of Lognormal Distribution
Abstract: AbstractModel-based clustering consists of fitting a mixture model to data and identifying cluster with its components. This study discusses model-based clustering using a finite mixture of a univariate lognormal distribution with k components. In this study, lognormal mixture models for skewed data and also the estimation of mixing proportion by distance-based clustering have been considered. Parameter estimation is carried out by expectation maximization (EM) algorithm using different initialization approach using …

Tail Reoriented Systematic Sampling Scheme for Finite Population
Abstract: This study discusses about a new sampling scheme in the systematic setup for estimation of the population mean. The expression for the variance of the sample mean is derived and a comparative study is with the variance of the sample mean of simple random sampling (without replacement), linear systematic sampling and stratified sampling in the presence of linear trend, two-way linear trend and trend of the form

Prediction of the Natural Progression of Tuberculosis using Markov Model
Abstract: This study was done to find out the natural development of the tuberculosis (TB) patients. It was an observational study conducted between years 2013 and 2015 at 200 patients with TB. 150 patients entered the regular treatment of dot course and the remaining patients entered the irregular treatment of Dot course. The stage of the patient was noted at the end of the every year and transition matrices were applied …

The Comparison in Time Series Forecasting of Air Traffic Data by Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model, Radial Basis Function and Elman Recurrent Neural Networks
Abstract: Nowadays, nonlinear time series and artificial neural networks (ANN) models are used for forecasting in the field of business, agriculture and soon. Recent studies have shown, ANN have been successfully used for forecasting of financial and agriculture data series The classical methods used for time series prediction like Box-Jenkins or ARIMA assumes that there is a linear relationship between inputs and outputs. ANN have more advantages that can approximate to …

Zigzag Systematic Sampling Scheme For Finite Population
Abstract: In the present study, a new sampling scheme is proposed in the systematic setup for estimation of the population mean. The explicit expressions for variance of the sample mean are obtained and compared with the variance of the sample mean of Simple Random Sampling (without replacement) and Linear Systematic Sampling in the presence of a linear trend, two way linear trend and trend of the form .
