In silico Bioprospection and Identification of Propitious Herbal Mitigators Against Highly Virulent Pathogenic Strains of Bacteria Like Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci
Abstract: Vancomycin resistance genes have been isolated from various strains of Enterococci, owing to the high rate of recombination and vast potential of disseminating resistant genes between Enterococcal strains. Various virulent factors contribute towards the dissemination of infections caused by such Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) strains, ultimately leading to a devastating state of environmental contamination and cross infection. Minimizing the prevalence of these strains by multiple control efforts therefore is of paramount …

Evaluation of Antimicrobial and -Amylase Inhibitory Activity of Selected Medicinal Plants
Abstract: During this study we evaluated the a-amylase inhibitory activity and antimicrobial activity of different extracts of Psidium gujauva, Allium sativum, Withania sominfera, and Piper nigrum. Antimicrobial potential was observed against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The plant extracts were prepared with chloroform, ethanol, acetone and distilled water. Each extract was evaporated using rotary evaporator, under reduced pressure. Different concentrations (10, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 μg/ml) of each extract …

Nitric-oxide Scavenging Antioxidant Activity of the Different Extracts of Plumeria obtusa (Family:Apocynaceae)
Abstract: Plumeria obtusa (Family-Apocynaceae) has a long ethnomedicinal tradition of being used as a remedial agent in various diseases such as diarrhoea, piles, fever, gonorrhoea, antibacterial and antitumour agents etc. Antioxidant potential of the crude petroleum ether, chloroform and methanol extracts of the leaf and bark were evaluated by using nitric oxide scavenging assay. The extracts showed significant activities compared to ascorbic acid in a dose dependent mode. Moreover, the percentage …
