Experimental Study on Strength and Setting Time of Concrete After Modifying Workability by Using Molasses as Time Retarding and Plasticizing Agent
Abstract: Molasses is a byproduct recovered from the sugar refining process. Molasses can also be recovered from the paper industries. Here the waste floating on the surface of boiling sugar juice during the process of production of sugar is taken. Sugar content in such molasses slows down the hydration process in cement. This phenomenon increases the setting time of the concrete mix. Among the quantity of water added to concrete without …

Selection of Best Natural Fibre for Retrofitting of Structure by Using AHP
Abstract: Ordinary concrete has certain characteristics such as; it is relatively strong in compression but weak in tension and tends to be brittle. To neutralize this weakness of concrete some natural reinforcement is provided to concrete and subsequent concrete is called fibre reinforced concrete. There are many types of natural fibres which are used in concrete as a reinforced material to increase the properties of concrete such as; Sisal, Coir, Hemp, …

Effect of Different Steel Sections on Design of Roof Truss
Abstract: Roof trusses, which are structural components of houses or commercial buildings, support the weight of roof purlins and coverings. Roof truss is mainly used in parking sheds, industrial buildings, warehouses etc. In present study, a comparison is made out between the mass of truss using steel single angle, double angle, tubular and pipe sections. Truss span chosen is 10 m with recommended rise of 2 m. The wind zone, permeability, …

Free Vibration Analysis of Thin Circular and Annular Plate with General Boundary Condition
Abstract: This paper presents a numerical analysis of free vibration of thin circular and annular plate using finite element method. The first five natural frequencies are presented for uniform annular plates of various inner-to-outer radii ratios, with nine possible combinations of free, clamped and simply supported boundary conditions at the inner and outer edges of plates. The accuracy of the method is established by comparing the results available in the literature. …

Investigation of Web-Hole Effect on Web Crippling Strength of Cold Formed Channel Section
Abstract: This paper presents an experimental, theoretical and numerical investigation on lipped channel sections with circular web holes subjected to two loading conditions as specified in the American specifications for cold formed steel structures, namely, interior-two-flange and end-two-flange. For interior-two-flange, the web holes are provided (i) at center beneath bearing plate and (ii) at offset distance. For end-two-flange, web holes are provided at (i) center beneath bearing plate and (ii) 1/4th …
