Design of a Compressed Air Vehicle
Abstract: In the present energy scenario, the fossil fuel sources are fast depleting and their combustion products are causing global environmental problems. So it is inevitable to shift towards the renewable energy resources which in turn will reduce pollution levels and save fossil fuels. One possible alternative is hybrid vehicle which uses air and solar energy. Air-powered cars run on compressed air instead of gasoline and we can develop the power …

Numerical Study on Heat Transfer Enhancement of Laminar Flow through a Circular Tube with Artificial Rib Roughness
Abstract: This work presents the configuration optimization of a typical square roughness in a circular tube for laminar heat transfer in air using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling. Conjugate heat transfer 2D numerical model has been developed and successfully carried out. CFD numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the flow and heat transfer in the air duct of a solar air heater provided with rectangular ribs. The laminar flow model …

Theoretical Investigation on Separation of High Purity Nitrogen, Oxygen and Argon from Atmospheric Air at Cryogenic Temperature
Abstract: Air is a mixture of various gases like nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, helium, neon, etc. These gases can be separated at cryogenic temperature by liquefying each of their components at different temperature and pressure. This paper presents latest technology in bulk production of high purity of nitrogen, oxygen & argon from air, and analytical process design of a 1250 ton/day plant. The results are compared with the data of actual …

Experimental Evaluation of Environmental Friendly and Low Global Warming Refrigerants as an Alternative Option for Window Air Conditioning System
Abstract: This paper presents an experimental evaluation and performance comparison of window air-conditioning system with R-410A and R32 and to compare with HCFC-22 refrigerant. The base line test is performed with 2 “Ton of Refrigeration” (TR) capacities air conditioner, with evaporator temperature of 7.2 °C and condenser temperature of 54.4 °C. The coefficient of performance (COP) of the refrigerants R32, R22 and R410A are 3.81, 3.15 and 2.17 respectively simulated; it …
