Studying the Effects of Reheat on R134A Cycle Performance using Industrial Air-Conditioning Training Equipment
Abstract: This paper presents an apparatus-based experiment for teaching air conditioning and refrigeration in undergraduate engineering hands-on based learning curricula. Results for an R134A based refrigeration and air conditioning performance are shown in this paper illustrating the effects of re-heat on the COP of the cycle as well as the use on a LabView interface to extract test data. The primary use of this equipment is to show various “what-if” scenarios. …

First Law Analysis of Adsorption Cooling System
Abstract: Steady state thermodynamic differential analysis is developed for the adsorption-based cooling systems. The introduced thermodynamic model represents the behaviour of adsorption cooling systems, based on a precise, reasonable, and clear fundamental approach. The energy conservation principle is used to analyze components and processes in the system. The dynamics of adsorption is expressed using Dubinin-Astakhov adsorption equilibrium model. Energy interactions are evaluated to determine the theoretical performance and the operating parameters …

Mathematical Model of a Silica Gel Water Adsorption Refrigeration System at Adsorption Equilibrium
Abstract: CFC (ChloroFluoroCarbon) and HCFC (HydroFluoroCarbon) refrigerants, which are used for vapour compression refrigeration cycles cause serious environment problems. So research is going on solar refrigeration (producing cooling effect using solar energy is a promising way to achieve sustainable development, since the energy used is free and not harmful for the environment) and also used for environment friendly refrigerants. In this paper, heat and mass transfer analysis of adsorption refrigeration system …

An Exergetic based Assessment of Biogas as an Energy Source in a Hybrid Refrigeration System
Abstract: The analysis of biogas operated Ammonia-Water vapor compression absorption (hybrid) refrigeration system was carried out based on computational model being developed and the thermodynamic properties of working fluids have been used from the computer code. The variation of performance parameters such as exergy loss, COPCOOLING, COPHEATING and Exergy efficiency are studied with varying generator temperature, evaporator temperature, condenser and absorber temperature. The results indicate that maximum COP cooling as well …

Thermodynamic Design Data of NH3-LiNO3 Absorption Heat Pump Systems for Simultaneous Cooling and Heating using ANN Approach
Abstract: The aim of this study is to train neural network which predicts thermodynamic design data without involving role of thermodynamic properties, temperature concentration complex relationship and formula of coefficient of performance. Authors have presented values of weights and bias obtained from the trained ANN through which one can formulate mathematical equations for predicting thermodynamic design data. Authors have achieved coefficient of multiple determinations R2 as 1, 1, 0.99999 for solution …
