Free Radical Copolymerization of N-(4-chloro-2-methyl phenyl) Maleimide with Vinyl Monomers and Characterization of Polymers
Abstract: The free radical copolymerization of N-(4-chloro-2-methyl phenyl) maleimide (CMPM) with ethyl acrylate, methyl acrylate and vinyl acetate in THF at 65ºC using free radical initiator was described. The physical characteristics like solubility, intrinsic viscosity and molecular weight were determined and discuss the effect of vinyl monomer in properties of polymers. The structure was ascertained by spectral analysis. The thermal stability of copolymers was evaluated by TGA. Keywords: N-(4-chloro-2-methyl phenyl) maleimide, …

Hydrotropes as effective reaction Media for the Synthesis of Chlorothiazide
Abstract: The paper describes the synthesis of Chlorothiazide. It is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). It decreases theamount of fluid in the body by increasing the amount of salt and water lost in the urine. It is also used tolower the blood pressure as antihypertensive and to decrease edema (swelling). The synthesis ofChlorothiazide was carried out using four different hydrotropes, the effect of hydrotropes on yield, rateconstant and activation energy at …

Substituted Thiosemicarbazides as Corrosion Inhibitors for N80 Steel in Hydrochloric Acid
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 N-isonicotinoyl-N′-aryl thiosemicarbazides have been synthesized and employed as corrosion inhibitors for N-80 steel – 15% hydrochloric acid system at 25 ï‚°C. On the basis of their influence on anodic and cathodic polarization behavior, these compounds could be classified as ambiodic inhibitors. Weight loss and electrochemical data leading to their inhibition efficiencies (IEs) suggest that these inhibitors followed adsorption mechanism. Among the …

Supported cobalt-promoted platinum bimetallic nanoparticles – a thermal study
Abstract: The Co-promoted Pt-based bimetallic catalysts were prepared using surface organometallic method (SOMC), to obtain catalysts with cobalt to platinum surface atomic ratio of 1:2 and 1:1. Temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) profiles showed two distinct temperature regions for hydrogen uptake both by the parent 5% Pt/Al2O3 and the Co-promoted catalysts. The shift in peak maxima in the case of promoted catalysts to higher temperatures has been interpreted as a result of formation …

Synthesis and Characterization of Mn Doped ZnO Nanoparticles by Chemical Precipitation Method
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-IN X-NONE X-NONE Nanosized Mn doped ZnO semiconductor (where Mn 0.5%–2.5%) has been synthesized via a chemical precipitation method using zinc acetate hydrate, MnCl2 in alcoholic medium and utilizing polyvinyl pyrolidone (PVP) as capping agent. A differential thermal analysis (DTA) and a thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) where used determine the thermal properties of ZnO:Mn. The structural characteristics were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD).scanning electron microscopy (SEM) …
