Acrylamide in deep-frying versus air frying foods and mitigation treatments: a review
Abstract: Frying can contribute to intensifying oxidative reactions and the formation of acrylamide (AA), which is a compound derived from the Maillard Reaction, potentially toxic. Even so, fried foods are one of the most consumed foods worldwide. Innovative technologies such as air frying (AF) have been developed to this end. Thus, the objectives of this review were to systematize data on AA content in foods, compare the AF technique with immersion …

Modified Cellulosic Fabrics with Eugenol Added for Longer-Lasting and Better Antibacterial Activity
Abstract: Eugenol was added to cyclodextrin-grafted organic cotton to create antibacterial textiles with increased efficacy and durability. Grafting of β-cyclodextrin on fabric was done with citric acid as cross linker in the presence of sodium hypophosphite by fixing at 150oC for 10 min. UV-Visible and FTIR spectral studies of β-Cyclodextrin, β-Cyclodextrin-grafted fabric, ungrafted fabric, eugenol and eugenol –loaded fabric confirmed the inclusion of eugenol on grafted fabric. Eugenol was recovered from …

Production of Bioethanol from Agro-food Waste (Potato Peel) with the Aid of NPK Fertilizer and Moringa Leaf as Activators
Abstract: In this work, the production of ethanol with the aid of activators was investigated. Two-step hydrolysis of sweet potato peel was studied. Acid hydrolysis was carried out using dilute sulphuric acid, while enzyme hydrolysis was studied using Aspergillus niger inoculum. The effect of activators on ethanol yield was also investigated. Saccharification was studied using aspergillus niger which is a starch degrading organism to generate convertible sugar. Fermentation was carried out …

Sustainable Approach for The Efficient Removal of Methylene blue From Aqueous Solution Using Sapindus Mukorossi Seed Powder as Biosorbent
Abstract: In this study, the adsorption of Methylene blue dye from water using Sapindus mukorossi seed powder was investigated. Batch experiments were carried out with various dilutions of Methylene blue to check the activity of reetha seed powder as an efficient biosorbent. The results showed that the seed powder was effective in removing Methylene blue from water, with a removal efficiency ranging from 88 to 99% at pH of 7, an …

Post-combustion CO2 capture by using chemical absorption process: Brief Review
Abstract: CO2 concentration on a global scale is increasing rapidly day by day, and it highly effects on the environment. CO2 mitigation strategies such as CCUS (Carbon capture utilization and storage) proved to be an efficient technology to combat the global warming issue. The three technologies commercially deployed for Industrial CO2 capture can be classified as 1. post-combustion process, 2. pre-combustion process, also 3. Oxy-fuel process. Post-combustion capture process has some …

The study of Carbon Emissions and achieving Carbon Neutrality in Agricultural Sector
Abstract: In the world, approximately 30% carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission is from the agricultural sector. Basically it can be said that the agri-food industry emits almost 1/3rd of the total carbon emission. Agriculture practices indirectly contributes towards climate change, the reason is greenhouse gas emissions and also by the conversion of non-agricultural land such as forests into agricultural land. There are various reasons that are leading to such situations …

Investigation on the Periodic Dispersion of TPH in Stagnant Water Environment
Abstract: An investigation was carried out on the dispersion of crude oil in stagnant water environment and studied experimentally using relevant mathematical models. Precisely two tanks of equal capacity were filled to about 1.5m3 volumes of fresh water and salt water respectively. Also, we considered TPH diffusion in the stagnant water environment which was studied using Developed Dispersion and Degradation Model incorporated with first order degradation rate as well as the …

End of Life Tire Pyrolysis Current Status and Opportunities
Abstract: Recycling of end-of-life tires (ETL) is a concern for local and national governments due to associated severe environmental hazards. Use of automobile vehicle is increasing, because of surging demand in the emerging market. Governments are enforcing strict tyre disposal regulations. Several have been put forth to address the disposal issue. Pyrolysis- is the latest technology, which leads the decomposition of polymeric moiety at elevated temperatures under inert conditions. Pyrolysis process …
