Crystal Engineering Strategies for Tailoring Mechanical Properties of Structural Materials
Abstract: Crystal engineering has emerged as a promising approach for designing materials with tailored mechanical properties, enabling advancements in various fields such as aerospace, automotive, and construction. This review examines the diverse strategies employed in crystal engineering to manipulate the mechanical behavior of structural materials. One key strategy involves controlling the crystal structure at the atomic level through techniques such as alloying, doping, and phase transformations. Alloying introduces foreign atoms into …

Direct Synthetic Routes of MXenes and Their Application in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRPs) As Supplementary Sizing Layer†
Abstract: Sized carbon fibers with a supplementary sizing layer of MXenes (synthesized via traditional MAX phases), bonded to carbon fibers (CFs) as well as the resin matrix via different kinds of physicochemical (van der Waals force, hydrogen bonding, covalent bonding) interactions enhanced the performance of the resulting carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) materials. This is because of the strong interface generated due to the appearance of MXene at the interface of …

Zn Doped CuO Nanoparticles for Increasing the Longevity of The Agricultural Products †
Abstract: Nanotechnology is an enabling technology at the service of mankind. Indeed, enhancing the long-term storage of agricultural products (post-harvest during transportation and storage) in general and apples and tomatoes, in particular, is a challenge. Zn-doped CuO is a proven nanomaterial with special ability to kill plant pathogens as well as a variety of microorganisms (bacteria, virus, and fungus). Much of the review is focused on the landmark papers published by …

Raman Spectroscopy for The Determination of Relative Crystallinity of Carbon Fibers
Abstract: Analogous to X-ray diffraction technique, the light scattering technique discovered by Sir CV Raman has great potential in quantifying the crystallinity of new materials, like the highly crystalline pitch based carbon fibers (NX90 and NX100). For comparison the Raman spectra of polyacrylonitrile based carbon fibers (T700SC) were also recorded. From the Raman spectral analysis, it was found that the pitch based carbon fibers exhibit far far higher degree of crystallinity …

Crystallographic Studies on The Stability of Pharmaceutical Compound
Abstract: Crystallographic studies provide detailed insights into the molecular structure and intermolecular interactions within a crystal lattice, which are key determinants of a compound's stability. By analyzing crystal structures, researchers can identify potential polymorphs, solvates, and hydrates that may impact the physical and chemical stability of the drug. This knowledge helps in optimizing formulation strategies, predicting shelf life, and ensuring consistent drug performance. Advanced techniques like X-ray diffraction and neutron diffraction …
