High Pressure Waste Heat Recovery Boiler Downstream of Sponge Iron Plant: A Review

Abstract

India is emerging as the leading producer of sponge iron among developing as well industrially developing nations. Sponge iron is produced by the direct reduction of iron ore by use of non-coking coal. In the present work, a boiler is designed to coordinate the heat of waste gas in the sponge iron process. This gas has a lot of sensible heat, which can be used for producing high-pressurized steam by installing a boiler in the sponge iron plant. This waste heat is used for heating water in the boiler. High-pressurized waste heat recovery boilers (WHRB) are used in power plant to produce steam and power. In high-pressurized WHRB, there are various advantages like high evaporation rate, high steam generation, etc. In boiler, superheated steam is produced which is used to generate power using steam turbine and generator. Keywords: WHRB, sponge iron, waste heatCite this Article Mitesh Patel.
