Abstract

In this work, rice husk used as filler has been added to a rubber batch which is used in the manufacturing of rubber speed bumps. The prepared batch was consisted of the reclaim as by-product or as undesirable material. The work completed in one of Iraqi manufacturing of tires. The mechanical properties of the new compositions have been measured for different loadings in the matrix in order to prove the best sample. In addition to cheeping and availability, the shear strength and elastic modulus decreased with RH loading in the matrix, while the tensile strength and strain rate showed an opposite trend. The weak filler-matrix interaction resulting in poor filler dispersion and large agglomerated particle size caused those properties to decrease. Moreover, the using of the undesirable materials (rice husk and reclaim) will help to decrease the environmental pollution, the cost and weight of the final product.
