Abstract

The present work deals with the optical analysis of SrCO3-Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2 glass materials doubly doped with Eu3+/Gd3+ ion were prepared by melt quenching technique. These are studied by XRD, physical properties, FITIR, optical absorption and luminescence spectroscopy. The XRD measurements are conducted to verify the amorphous form of prepared material and structural modifications can be explained by the FTIR spectra. The thermal stability of the glass matrix is measured by the differential thermal analysis. From the optical absorption spectra is conducted to explain the structural modifications within the glass network. The optical basicity of the glasses can also be determined to recognize the nature of bonding. The energy transfer process between Eu3+and Gd3+ doubly doped glasses were studied based on the luminescence spectroscopy. Thus it was found that the energy transfer phenomenon is responsible for significant improvement takes place in luminescence spectra of Eu3+ ions in the studied glass samples. The CIE color coordinated are also determined for these glass materials, that these materials are potential candidate in the usage of optical and photonic applications.
