Abstract

In India near about every year 45 million tons of solid waste is generated. The solid waste rate is increasing of 1.5 to 2% every year. In that total solid waste, Plastics contains 12.3% waste generated in which most common are the water bottles. Now the present worldwide situation, the production of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) exceeds 6.9 million tons per year. So that it is necessary to reusing of PET wastes in the building, industry and road structure is an effective solution towards preventing all over pollution in the world and designing economical buildings as compared with other common building and road structure. If PET bottle fiber are to be incorporated in concrete can get better mechanical properties with the better strength. The addition of PET fibers in concrete is an innovative and light weighted material that can be encourage in construction field very easily. Reusable and Recycled PET bottles are examined the best eco-friendly alternative for solving the disposal problems and also a latest ecofriendly construction material. In this study 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% PET fibers of different shape like rectangular shape, triangular shape and circular shape are added to concrete with respect to weight of concrete and compressive, flexural and tensile test to be done. This paper represents the reuse of PET bottle fiber in concrete and enhance the mechanical properties i.e. compressive, flexural and tensile strength of concrete as well as it helps to reduce environmental pollution.
