Abstract

Background: Many studies have confirmed that nursing has job related stress. The aim of study was to examine nurses' attitude towards nursing profession with their contradictory factors such as hospital management unease, work environmental discomforts, etc. Method: The descriptive correlational study was conducted on registered staff nurses of two multispecialty hospitals of Nadiad city. 80 nurses were selected with purposive sampling technique. A structured questionnaire and a self-administered five-point Likert scale were used to collect the data. Data analysis employed both descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: Most of the staff were females, below age of 40 years, GNM and worked as staff nurse. Hence most of samples (63 (78.75%)) had positive attitude. The relation between contradictory factors can affect the attitude of staff nurses towards nursing profession was significant, X2 (1, N=80)=7.86, p=.019615. Using the information gathered for this study, Pearson's correlation coefficient (r) calculations showed a substantial positive link between job satisfaction and perspective on nursing care (r=0.2628, P=0.0185). The result is significant at p<0.05. Conclusion: The nurses had positive attitude towards nursing protection with presence of less contradictory factors at work place.
