Abstract

In the present study, cost effective and environment friendly silver nanoparticles were synthesized using Moringa Oleifera leaves extract as the reducing and capping agent. The nanoparticles (AgNPs) were characterized using UV-visble, FT-IR, XRD, and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The surface plasmon resonance peaks in absorption spectra for silver colloidal solution showed an absorption peak at 443 nm in a UV-visible spectrum. From the XRD data, we suggest the occurrence of cubic shaped particles due to the presence of silver. Further, the application of prepared nanoparticles to photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue dye was measured spectrophotometrically. The results exposed that our synthesized green silver nanoparticles using Moringa Oleifera leaf extract were found to be remarkable in degrading the Methylene blue dye. Keywords: Green synthesis; Ag nanoparticles; Photocatalytic degradation
