Abstract

Retaining walls are used from historic times to prevent the outflow of river and create havoc in the cities. The most important function of a retaining wall is to prevent entering the water in cities by giving higher length than the flood level and different styles of wall are used to secure town from high water level. Finite element technique is used to numerically model the wall and predict its behaviour. This work was administered to gauge the suitable dimension of wall from many model of wall designed within the ANSYS, to pick the minimum deformation. Many studies recommend the look of retaining walls on the premise of lateral earth pressures, stability of retaining walls don't seem to be however, properly predicated by at-rest or active earth pressure equations. This paper presents a colossal plan for the chosen dimension and stability of wall. A design procedure is introduced within the paper. Keywords: Retaining wall, dimension, stability
