Abstract

The solar air heater is the most cost-effective and popular solar energy harvesting device. It may be used for a variety of tasks, including drying crops, heating rooms, conditioning wood, and curing industrial items. Introducing artificial roughness to surfaces emerges as a highly effective method to augment heat transfer rates within the ducts of solar air heaters. Over the past three decades, research interest has centered on the incorporation of artificial roughness in solar air heater systems. This paper aims to give an in-depth look to the range of roughness geometries that are used in experiments for better performance. Thirty-eight experimental studies outlined in this article investigate solar air heaters equipped with various forms of roughness geometry. In spite of the substantial research on there is still very little in the literature on an exhaustive comparison to determine the relative effectiveness of various kinds of electronically roughened solar air heaters.
