Abstract

Present paper represents the stress and strain generated at the root and toes of the fillet weld. A T-joint fillet weld has been taken into consideration. First a model of the T-joint fillet weld has been moulded. Different aspects of weld, like their types, geometries, boundary conditions have also been reviewed in short. Finite element (FE) tool Ansys has been used to simulate the three-dimensional T-joint fillet weld. Different methods of meshing which help in generating the accurate results have also been reviewed like, tetrahedrons elements method, patch conforming and patch independent meshing methods etc. Results of meshing reveal that patch conforming method suits well by means of tetrahedrons meshing method. Effects of different loading and boundary conditions have been studied in the present paper. Stress generated in the weld toes have been found to be maximum and has been presented. Keywords: Fillet weld, loading and boundary conditions, tetrahedrons meshing methodCite this ArticleRavinandan Singh Tomar, Manoj Narwariya.
