Abstract

The present paper discusses about all the aspects of the fillet weld–weld types, weld geometries, boundary conditions have been reviewed. A wide amount of literature survey has also been conducted. Weld toes and weld roots are the section where maximum stress is developed, also called as stress concentration zone. The present paper focuses on the fillet or T-joint type weld joint. ANSYS—a Finite Element (FE)—has been used to simulate the three-dimensional fillet weld joint fatigue analysis. Study of different meshing methods has been done in the present paper, such as automatic methods, tetrahedrons elements method, patch conforming, and patch independent meshing methods. Effect of different element size has also been studied. Patch conforming method suits well with tetrahedrons meshing method
