Recent Trends in Smart Material in Automobile Industry. Journal of Automobile Engineering and Applications. 2021; 8(3): 21–24p.The purpose of this article is to investigate the modern application of smart materials and technology to automobiles, which allows for higher degrees of system integration and a reduction in the size and quantity of parts, resulting in increased efficiency and dependability. The advancements and future developments in materials technology for automobile components are examined, with a focus on mechanical transmission applications. Smart materials have a significant advantage in terms of adaptability to a variety of environmental and operating situations. The usage of Nitinol wires in spacecraft in the 1960s was the first practical application of smart materials. Smart materials-based systems have expanded to incorporate a wide range of applications, including autos, construction, medical implants, aerospace applications, chemical plants, architecture, and interior heating, thanks to the discovery of newer classes of materials. The advancements and future developments in materials technology for automobile components are examined, with a focus on mechanical transmission applications. Customers’ wants, legal laws, and technological requirements, such as reduced fuel usage, cost out, environmental regulations, energy diversification, and others, are the key drivers.
