Abstract

Textile industries and various dye houses are accountable for discharging highly polluted colored effluent leading to severe water pollution. Decolorization of textile effluent is the main challenge faced by these industries. In this study, the solvent extraction method was used to remove anionic dye Direct Yellow-4 (DY-4) from simulated effluent using cationic surfactant CTAB (Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) in polar solvent isoamyl alcohol. The removal trend of the dye from aqueous phase was studied with different concentrations of dye, surfactant concentration, pH, salt concentration, temperature etc.
