The role of Ethylacetate fractions of Parkinsonia aculeata and Newbouldia laevis against Carbon Tetrachloride Toxicity in RatsBy S.W. Hassan, A. H. Umar, R.A. Umar, M. I. Abdullahi
Abstract: This research work studied the preventive effect of ethylacetate fractions of Parkinsonia aculeata and Newbouldia laevis using carbontetrachloride (CCl 4 ) model to induce toxication in rats. Increased (p<0.05) serum concentrations of enzymes and non-enzymes biochemicalparameters such as lactate dehydrogenase, gamma glutamyl transferase, alkaline phosphatase, alanine and aspartate transaminases andtotal bilirubin, were seen in group of rats administered only carbon tetrachloride. However, groups that received 100 to 200mg/kg of thetwo …

Anti-ulcer Properties of Methanol Extract and its Solvent Fractions of Stem Bark of Lannea acida on Indomethacin Induced Gastric Ulcer in Albino RatsBy S.W. Hassan, O. Solomon, R. S. U. Wasagu, A. S. Yakubu
Abstract: Lannea acida is use in Nigeria for the treatment of Peptic ulcers. The methanol and its solvent fractions (hexane, ethylacetate and butanol) of the stem bark of Lannea acida were evaluated for antiulcerogenic activity using indomethacin model. The anti-ulcerogenic mechanisms of the plant using the model employed in this study were done by estimation of Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Glutathione (GSH), Catalase (CAT), Vitamins A, C and E, and Malondialdehyde (MDA). …
